twiceborn

Jesus twice born first of the spirit second of the flesh

ISRAEL = CHILDREN BORN OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD, FROM THE SEED OF ISAAC. JESUS IS THEIR LORD, THEY OBEY HIM. FLESH ISRAEL OR FLESH CHRISTIANS ≠ GOD'S ISRAEL

"That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again" John 3:6-7 (KJV).

John 3:3 "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

John 3:7 "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

1 Peter 1:23 "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."

Christ was Twice Born, once in Heaven of the Spirit and Once on Earth of the Flesh. Just as we must be twice born, only in opposites for us. We are Born of the flesh first, then we must be born of the Spirit or born again of GOD before we can enter the kingdom of Heaven.

Take some time to seek the truth, for the traditions of men cannot save your soul.

So many people profess that they are living for Christ and yet have never been "Born again".
Naturally speaking, a person cannot live until they are first born, and so it is spiritually. We
cannot Live spiritually unless we are born again in the Spirit, or born of GOD's Spirit. GOD living inside us (our minds) thru His SON JESUS living inside us and us living inside Jesus. (John 3:5)
"At that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you." John 14:20

John 3:5 (KJV) "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
"As Christ was twice born, once in eternity, the only begotten of the Father, and again here in the flesh, thus uniting the divine with the human in that second birth, so we, who have been born once already in the flesh, are to have the second birth, being born again of the Spirit, in order that our experience may be the same, the human and the divine being joined in a life union." W.W. PRESCOTT Review and Herald, April 14, 1896 p. 232.

"He was born of the Holy Ghost. In other words, Jesus Christ was born again. He came from heaven, GOD's first- born, to the earth, and was born again, But all in Christ's work goes by opposites for us: he, the sinless one, was made to be sin, in order that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. He, the living one, the prince and author of life, died that we might live. He whose goings forth have been from the days of eternity, the first-born of GOD, was born again, in order that we might be born again" A.T. JONES, The Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, vol. 76 August 1, 1899, page 487 par. 2.

"If Jesus Christ had never been born again, could you and I have ever been born again? No. But he was born again, from the world of righteousness into the world of sin; that we might be born again, from the world of sin into the world of righteousness. He was born again, and was made partaker of the human nature, that we might be born again, and so made partakers of the divine nature. He was born again, unto earth, unto sin, and unto man, that we might be born again unto heaven, unto righteousness, and unto God." Review and Herald, Aug. 1, 1899 (Lessons on Faith p. 154.)

Which Jesus Do You Worship?
This Jesus? Our Twice Born Saviour - Twice Born Just As We MUST be Twice Born To Inherit Eternal Life AND to Perform Miracles? Just by Speaking?

·         Jesus IS the WISDOM and POWER of God IN THOSE WHO BELIEVE THAT GOD REALLY AND TRULY HAD A SON TO GIVE – to be reincarnated into a human body forever by the Spirit (Presence and Power=character=thoughts and feelings) of God.  Anytime you pray for WISDOM you are praying for MORE OF CHRIST’S SPIRIT, HIS CHARACTER, HIS FEELINGS, HIS THOUGHTS TO BE GIVEN TO YOU.

·          “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5

·         Daniel 2:21 “He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.”

·         Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

·         James 3:17 “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”

Children inherit the name of their Father. Christ is the everlasting Father of us – We are the inheritance of Christ. The Son is 'the everlasting Father,' not of himself, nor of his Father, but of his children. His language is, 'I and the children which God hath given me.' Heb. 2:13.

1 Corinthians 1:30 "It is because of him (Christ's Father & God) that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption."

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well” 1 John 5:1.

Prior to Bethlehem: Proverbs 8:30 "Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;"

Proverbs 30:4 "Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?" Revelation 19:13 "And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God." Jeremiah 23:6 "this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS."

John 8:24 "I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins." John 8:28 "So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me." Prior to Bethlehem: Proverbs 8:30 "Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;"

(See John 1:1-3 as well, that calls Jesus the "Word" of God. That the "Word of God" was WITH God the Father before this world was created in the beginning. Christ counseled with His Father and then created the angels eons ago before the world was created. ) 1 Cor 8:6 says there is but ONE God, the Father for us. The Jews wanted to stone Jesus for blasphemy because Jesus said that "before Abram was" He was brought into existence or "came out" of His Father. John 8:58 "Very truly I tell you," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" Before Abraham Was, I Am: …John 8:57 "So the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" John 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am." John 8:59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple."

"Satan was well acquainted with the position of honor Christ had held in Heaven as the Son of God, the beloved of the Father. And that he should leave Heaven and come to this world as a man filled him with apprehension for his own safety. He could not comprehend the mystery of this great sacrifice for the benefit of fallen man. He knew well the value of Heaven far exceeded the anticipation and appreciation of fallen man. The most costly treasures of the world he knew would not compare with its worth. As he had lost through his rebellion all the riches and pure glories of Heaven, he was determined to be revenged by causing as many he could to undervalue Heaven and to place their affections upon earthly treasures” RH, March 3, 1874 par. 21.

ALL WHO LONG TO BEAR THE LIKENESS OF THE CHARACTER OF GOD SHALL BE SATISFIED. THE HOLY SPIRIT NEVER LEAVES UNASSISTED THE SOUL WHO IS LOOKING UNTO JESUS. The Wisdom of GOD.

Hebrews 1:5 "For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?"

"It may be objected, If the Father and the Son are two distinct beings, do you not, in worshipping the Son and calling him God, break the first commandment of the decalogue? "No; it is the Father's will 'That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father.' We cannot break the commandment and dishonor God by obeying him. The Fathers says of the Son, 'Let all the angels of God worship him.' Should angels refuse to worship the Son, they would rebel against the Father. Children inherit the name of their Father.  It is the will of the Father that we should thus honor the Son. In doing so we render supreme honor to the Father. If we dishonor the Son, we dishonor the Father; for he requires us to honor his son. "But though the Son is called God yet there is a 'God and Father of our lord Jesus Christ' 1Pet. 1:3. Though the Father says to the Son, 'Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever,' yet, that throne is given him of his Father; and because he loved righteousness and hated iniquity, he further says, 'Therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee.' Heb. 1:9. 'God hath made that same Jesus both Lord and Christ.' Acts. 2:36. The Son is 'the everlasting Father,' not of himself, nor of his Father, but of his children. His language is, 'I and the children which God hath given me.' Heb. 2:13" Review and Herald, June 1, 1869.

Galatians 4:4 "But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,"

"Christ did not make-believe take human nature; He did verily take it. He did in reality possess human nature. 'As the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he himself likewise took part of the same. ' He was the son of Mary; He was of the seed of David according to human descent. He is declared to be a man, even the Man Christ Jesus" 1SM 247.

Think about this: JESUS, was only Jewish on His Mother's side of the family.  (and through Joseph his stepfather, the legal, earthly Father of Jesus.)  On our Heavenly Father’s Side we are DIVINE and Godlike in character THROUGH JESUS. On Jesus Heavenly Father’s Side – He was God, because he was BORN of God first prior to Bethlehem. "Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well" 1 John 5:1.

“So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me” John 8:28.

The Bible is clear as to who is the only begotten Son of the One GOD; "and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ" (1 John 1:3). John 17:5 “And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”

What most people fail to realize is the vantage ground we are already standing on today when we believe in and obey the Words of Jesus. HIS VICTORY IS ALREADY OURS! WAITING FOR US TO LAY HOLD OF IT AND CLAIM OUR PRIZE AND USE IT!  Jesus IS the WISDOM and POWER of GOD GIVEN TO US THROUGH HIS SON! “But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the POWER  (character=thoughts and feelings) of God, and the WISDOM (truth) of God” 1 Corinthians 1:24.

Another super important fact that most people miss and is the reason we fail of being able to perform miracles, - YES – I said miracles! (through the Power of Christ in US) He gave all believers the commission to cast out evil spirits (Matthew 10:8) Matthew 10:8(KJV) "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."

‘He (Jesus) cured many who were afflicted with various diseases; and He drove out many demons but would not allow the demons to talk because they knew Him’ (Mark 1:34). ‘The unclean spirits, as often as they saw Him, fell down before Him and kept screaming out, “You are the Son of God!’” (Mark 3:11).

‘In the synagogue there was a man who was possessed by the foul spirit of a demon; and he cried out with a loud, terrible cry, “Ah, leave us alone! What have You to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know Who You are – the Holy One of God!” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet and come out of him!” And the unclean spirit, throwing the man into convulsions and screeching with a loud voice, came out of him but did not injure him in any way’ (Luke 4:33 to 36; Mark 1:26).)- and of being MADE HOLY, OR PERFECT in Christ WHICH IS SIMPLY BEING IN CONSTANT AGREEMENT WITH GOD, is that most people believe in the WRONG JESUS! Bet you never heard from your preacher did you?!!

Have you ever HEARD that there are TWO JESUS’s? The Bible warns us of this in 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 (KJV) 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth ANOTHER JESUS, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with (beware of) him.”

See? There it is, plainly in your Bible, a warning NOT to be corrupted from the SIMPLICITY that is IN CHRIST! We are created in the IMAGE or likeness of God. We are made after His Kind! We are made in the image of God! We don’t half understand or grasp what that means to us today! We have the POWER to SPEAK into existence our desires! We do it every day without realizing the POWER that we have in our TONGUE!

Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

Romans 4:17 “and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”

And concerning the things God has made through His SON: Isaiah 45:11 “concerning the work of my hands command ye me.”

Jer 12:16 “And if they learn well the ways of my people and swear by my name, saying, 'As surely as the LORD lives'--even as they once taught my people to swear by Baal--then they will be established among my people.”

“Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” John 10:34. Through the God and Father of Christ – WE ARE ADOPTED SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD – Jesus MAKES US “gods”! Through Mary and Joseph – Jesus is MADE HUMAN! Hebrews 10:5 “but a body hast thou prepared me” This SAME body, God has prepared for His Son – God has also prepared it for US to become like Him, Godlike in character! "At that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you" John 14:20.

Psalm 82:6 "I said, 'You are "gods"; you are all sons of the Most High.'

I Corinthians 8:5-6 “For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

John 8:17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true.

John 10:35 If he called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came--and Scripture cannot be set aside--

The Hebrew Shemites who kept His Name were not involved in building the tower of Babel. Jehovah dwelt with them, Genesis 9:27. “Shem” means name or renown and they have brought Jehovah’s Name down to us today. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were Shemites. Jesus or rather Jehovah by his REAL name, was a Shemite. Of Noah's three sons, Shem, Ham & Japheth.

The Book of Jubilees indicates in 4:33 that Shem was born in the year of the world (after creation) 1205, Ham in 1209, and Japheth in 1211. Japheth is commonly believed to be the father of the Europeans. The link between Japheth and the Europeans stems from Genesis 10:5, which states," By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands. According to that book, Japheth and his two brothers formed the three major races:

Japheth is the father of the Japhetic race

Ham is the father of the Hamitic race

Shem is the father of the Semitic race

Genesis 11:10 records that Shem was still 100 years old at the birth of Arpachshad, (but nearly 101 - see Chronology note,) two years after the flood, making him barely 99 at the time the flood began; and that he lived for another 500 years after this, making his age at death 600 years.

The children of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram, in addition to daughters. Abraham, the patriarch of the Hebrews and Arabs, was one of the descendants of Arpachshad.

Shem Parent: Noah

In a few of the many extra-biblical sources that describe him, Shem is also credited with killing Nimrod, son of Cush. Nimrod, inspired by Satan started the Trio-Trinity gods worship in place of our Creator GOD Jehovah.

Shem is mentioned in Genesis 5:32, 6:10; 7:13; 9:18,23,26-27; 10; 11:10; also in 1 Chronicles 1:4. For more on the decedents of Shem see the Wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shem

Genesis 5:32 32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham and Japhet. The historian Tabarī (d. 923) quotes Ibn Abbas (d. 686-8) as saying: :Born to Noah were Shem, whose descendants' colors are a black complexion with a light-brownish undertone (bayādh) and a dark blackish brown (Udmah); Ham, whose descendants' colors are true black (sawād) and a few are a black complexion with a light-brownish undertone (bayādh qalīl); and Japheth, whose descendants are very fair-skinned (al-shuqrah) and olive-skinned (al-humrah).  Semites, or People of the NAME!

The Messiah would be a descendant of Noah's son, Shem.

The fact of the virgin birth was something that made the ministry of Jesus harder, not easier. You try telling someone that your Master and Teacher was born of a virgin! (Especially back then! ) Everyone thought that Joseph was his real father, and it was known that Joseph was a descendant of David, something which could have only helped, not hurt, Jesus’ cause.

The real father of Joseph is Jacob in Matthew 1:16.  But evidently, Joseph’s father-in-law, Mary’s father, was Heli; and it’s tracing the genealogy through Mary’s father on.  So in the Bible it’s not uncommon to call the father-in-law the father.

Matthew’s genealogy traces it directly through the literal parentage and fathers of Joseph.  Luke’s genealogy goes and says Joseph’s – it was always an insult to just go right to the mother – so it talks about Jesus’ father, but it then traces the genealogy through Joseph’s father-in-law, Mary's father, which was Heli.

Now the interesting thing is, there are places where the genealogy of Matthew and Luke, about Joseph & Mary, merge and they intersect, so Mary and Joseph were [distantly] related also.  So it doesn’t really matter.  Through either one of their genes, Jesus was the son of David. Jesus sidestepped the curse that was put on the royal line of David, by having GOD, as his Father.

If you compare the genealogies in Matt 1 and Luke 3 you can spot the similarities as well as the differences. One difference is that Matthew comes forward from Abraham, showing Jesus as a son of Abraham while Luke goes backward to Adam proving the humanity of Jesus. Notice that both are the same from Abraham to David, but that in Matthew, David’s son is listed as Solomon while in Luke’s version David’s son is Nathan, Solomon’s brother. From then to Joseph the two lists are different with Matthew showing Joseph’s father as Jacob, while in Luke it’s Heli.

The reason for this is that there were no words for father-in-law, grandfather, son-in-law, or grandson, etc. Everyone was either a father or a son. Jacob was Joseph’s true father and Heli was his father-in-law, Mary’s father. From David to Joseph, Matthew showed the Royal line of Solomon of which Joseph was part. But Luke showed the line of Nathan, members of David’s family that weren’t qualified to become kings. These were actually Mary’s ancestors. So both Mary and Joseph were of the tribe of Judah, and descended from David and were therefore cousins, although far removed.

According to the Law, since Mary had no brothers, she could only be her father’s heir as long as she married someone from her own tribe. That way her family’s land would stay in the tribal inheritance as required. (Numbers 36) And although Joseph was in the Royal line of Solomon, neither he nor any biological son of his could ever be King, since the royal line had been cursed by God. (Jeremiah 22:30)

To sit on David’s throne as King of Israel, a man had to be both a pure biological descendant of David’s and a member of Solomon’s Royal line, but somehow had to side step the curse. When Joseph agreed to become Mary’s husband, he in effect adopted Jesus as his legal son, placing Jesus in the Royal line without inheriting Joseph’s cursed blood. Having no earthly father, Jesus was a pure biological son of David’s through His mother. Thus Jesus met both qualifications and became the only man in the world, then or now, fit to be Israel’s King.

C.I. Scofield, one of the fathers of Dispensational Theology, and editor of the Scofield Reference Bible, has been credited with this discovery, proof that the virgin birth was not only a unique sign from God, but was a legal necessity to provide a King for Israel.

At the end of the Book of Numbers an interesting loophole to the curse emerged. A man died without a son, leaving 4 daughters. They came to Moses complaining that they would lose the family land since there was no son to inherit it. Moses sought the Lord Who decreed that if there was no son in a family daughters could inherit family land providing they married within their own tribal clan. In effect they had to marry a cousin to keep the land in the "family." This made sense since land was allotted first by tribe then by clan then by family. Marrying within the clan kept the families in close proximity and preserved the tribal allotment. (Num. 36 1:13)

Now compare the 2 genealogies of Jesus in Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke 3:23-38, and you'll discover that Mary and Joseph were both of the tribe of Judah and descendants of David. Joseph descended through Solomon, the royal but cursed line, while Mary's line was through Solomon's brother Nathan.

Here's the tricky part. Mary had no brothers, and so was entitled to inherit her family's land as long as she married someone also descended from David. Joseph fit the bill and being in the royal line had a claim to the throne, but carried the blood curse. No biological son of his could ever legally qualify as Israel's king, but Joseph could secure Mary's right of inheritance.

When Mary accepted Joseph's offer of marriage she preserved her family's land and also made good her son's claim to the throne of Israel. Jesus was in the royal succession through Joseph but escaped the curse since he wasn't Joseph's biological son. But He was a biological descendant of David's through his mother and therefore of the "house and lineage of David."

This whole issue revolves around the facts that, a) God has bound Himself to His own laws and, b) He keeps His word; facts that should give you great comfort. God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should change His mind (Num. 23:19). Legally, a virgin birth was required to produce a sinless man who would be qualified and able to serve as our Kinsman Redeemer, and God longed to redeem us. A virgin birth was also required to sidestep the blood curse on the royal line, fulfilling God's promise to David that a biological descendant of his would sit on the throne of Israel forever.

He was born in a small town just south of Jerusalem. Bethlehem, which means 'the house of bread,' indeed became worthy of its name one lonely night. For there, in that town, was born the Bread of Life . . .

Jesus was born either before 4 BC (when Herod the Great died) or in 6 AD (when the historical Census of Quirinius was undertaken). From other details supplied by Josephus, we can pinpoint Herod the Great's demise as occurring between March 29th and April 4th in 4 B.C. Now Matthew tells us that Herod killed Bethlehem's babies two years old and under. The earliest Jesus could have been born, therefore, is 6 B.C. Through a variety of other time indicators, we can be relatively confident that the one called Messiah was born in either late 5 or early 4 B.C.

Note: Prior to being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, Jesus was born in heaven. He was twice born, once in Heaven and once on earth. He truly is the ONLY Son of His immortal eternal Father, GOD. He has been MADE equal by his Father, with his Father. GOD says when Jesus says or does something he has authority from His Father GOD; listen to Him as you would me; I back him all the way. When Christ speaks it is as though his Father is speaking.  Hebrews 1:3 says “by inheritance has he obtained a name”. Like the son will inherit his Father’s name. So is Christ able to speak on behalf of the only true GOD the Father [John 17:3-5]. “He has declared his Father’s name” [John 17:26].

"We would see Jesus," echoing the hungering cry of the world, His (Jesus) countenance lighted up, and He said, "The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified." In the request of the Greeks He saw an earnest of the results of His great sacrifice.

These men came from the West to find the Saviour at the close of His life, as the wise men had come from the East at the beginning. At the time of Christ's birth the Jewish people were so engrossed with their own ambitious plans that they knew not of His advent. The magi from a heathen land came to the manger with their gifts, to worship the Saviour. So these Greeks, representing the nations, tribes, and peoples of the world, came to see Jesus. So the people of all lands and all ages would be drawn by the Saviour's cross. So shall many "come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven." Matt. 8:11.

The Greeks had heard of Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Some supposed, and had circulated the report, that He had driven the priests and rulers from the temple, and that He was to take possession of David's throne, and reign as king of Israel. The Greeks longed to know the truth in regard to His mission. "We would see Jesus," they said. Their desire was granted. When the request was brought to Jesus, He was in that part of the temple from which all except Jews were excluded, but He went out to the Greeks in the outer court, and had a personal interview with them.

The hour of Christ's glorification had come. He was standing in the shadow of the cross, and the inquiry of the Greeks showed Him that the sacrifice He was about to make would bring many sons and daughters to God. He knew that the Greeks would soon see Him in a position they did not then dream of. They would see Him placed beside Barabbas, a robber and murderer, who would be chosen for release before the Son of God. They would hear the people, inspired by the priests and rulers, making their choice. And to the question, "What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?" the answer would be given, "Let Him be crucified." Matt. 27:22. By making this propitiation for the sins of men, Christ knew that His kingdom would be perfected, and would extend throughout the world. He would work as the Restorer, and His Spirit would prevail. For a moment He looked into futurity, and heard the voices proclaiming in all parts of the earth, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." John 1:29. In these strangers He saw the pledge of a great harvest, when the partition wall between Jew and Gentile should be broken down, and all nations, tongues, and peoples should hear the message of salvation. The anticipation of this, the consummation of His hopes, is expressed in the words, "The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified." But the way in which this glorification must take place was never absent from Christ's mind. The gathering in of the Gentiles was to follow His approaching death. Only by His death could the world be saved. Like a grain of wheat, the Son of man must be cast into the ground and die, and be buried out of sight; but He was to live again.

Christ presented His future, illustrating it by the things of nature, that the disciples might understand. The true result of His mission was to be reached by His death. "Verily, verily, I say unto you," He said, "Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit." When the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it springs up, and bears fruit. So the death of Christ would result in fruit for the kingdom of God. In accordance with the law of the vegetable kingdom, life was to be the result of His death.

So long as the carnal-hearted person ignores Jehovah and His ways and insists upon going his own way, his will be a hopeless struggle devoid of help and guidance. Neither will he obtain the blessings from on high. The time is coming, however, when men shall return to the pure worship of their Creator.

“And the ransomed of JEHOVAH shall return, and come to Zion with songs, and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away,” Isaiah 35:10 (see also Isa. 2:2-4).

Returning to the Old Paths Required

We desire to return to the Word of truth (John 17:17) and learn what the Bible says about proper worship of our Creator. That worship revolves around the day upon which He desires to be worshiped, not on days we think are acceptable. Isaiah 55:8-9 reveals:

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says Jehovah. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Jehovah’s Word warns us not to trust man for salvation because man can lead us astray:

“Thus says Jehovah; Cursed be the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from Jehovah,” Jeremiah 17:5.

The world’s way that may seem to be the correct worship of Jehovah profits us nothing, no matter how sincere we are and no matter how much we want Him to accept our form of worship. Again He says through the prophet Jeremiah:

“This evil people, which refuse to hear My words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other deities, to serve them and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing, “ Jeremiah 13:10.

Proverbs 14:12 reveals that there is a way that seems right to a man but the end thereof is the ways of death.

We can worship on a day that we choose, and find it is useless! He is to be worshiped only on the day He tells us and in a manner He has revealed to us. Anything else is disobedience, once we know the truth.

Jehovah is seeking only those who are willing to make permanent changes in both their worship and lives in order to please Him. He looks for true, sincere repentance. He can’t work with stiff-necked, hard-hearted, unyielding people who insist on doing it their way. Every time ancient Israel rebelled in such a fashion He punished them. When they obeyed Him He blessed them. Their example is for us. “Now all these things happened unto them {ancient Israel} for examples: and they are written for our admonition; wherefore let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall,” 1 Corinthians 10:11-12.

Almighty Jehovah makes the rules and we must abide by His rules if we aspire to be in His coming Kingdom. Going our own way and doing only what appeals to us has no value as far as our Creator is concerned.

Jesus is our Saviour for He purged our sins. No one else could. Jesus is above all, but still subject unto His Father, the Sovereign immortal living God of Heaven. Jesus is our mediator, our high priest, our link to God. Christ is the Alpha, the first link, and the Omega, the last link, of the Gospel chain, which is welded in Revelation.

GOD is like a dedicated unlimited super high speed Internet connection, Jesus is the router or switch (the mind of Jesus), connecting us, (our MINDS), to the trunk line, our Heavenly Father's mind. Only so much more! Human words are so inadequate to describe God's love for mankind. Jesus is also our firewall; protecting us from the viruses, pop-ups, and threats from Satan. "A firewall is a device or set of devices designed to permit or deny network transmissions based upon a set of rules and is frequently used to protect networks from unauthorized access while permitting legitimate communications to pass."

If we follow GOD's rules, the Ten Commandments, we will be safe from any and all threats from Satan.

According to Luke 22:42, Jesus said to His Father, GOD: “Let, not my will, but yours take place.”

John 14:28 "Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I." Strong’s

concordance says, larger, specifically in AGE. (GREAT= stature and

age: great, old, 1c) of age: the elder)

Jesus says in John 5:30, "I can of mine own self do nothing...".  Jesus had no trace of self, not one speck of ambition, self-respect, self-esteem, self-will. He had no agenda, no plans for himself, no path for success other than what would please his Father in every step, every decision, every thought and word. He "emptied himself," "laid aside," "made of none effect," his own divine powers. He performed all his miracles by the power of GOD.

"The Father was greater than the Son in that he was first." (James White, January 4, 1881, Review & Herald; found in EGW Review and Herald Articles, vol. 1, page 244)

John 14:31 “But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

Jesus says in John 10:29 “My Father, who hath given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is

able to snatch them out of the Father's hand."

Jesus says in John 13:13 "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. And other translation says in John 13:13 "Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am."

Romans 10:9 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that GOD raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Ephesians 1:17 "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better."

Jesus and His Father are our Saviour's. (Acts 5:31 "Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins." 1 Timothy 1:1 "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of GOD our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;" 1 John 4:14 "And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world." Jude 1:25 "To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.")

John 3:16 "For GOD so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

GOD actually had a real, literal Son to GIVE; HIS ONLY Son, Jesus Christ, who was crucified and raised from the dead by his FATHER for OUR sins. (Smitten of GOD)

Numbers 23:19 "GOD is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"

John 20:17 "Jesus saith ....I ascend unto my Father, AND your Father; AND to my GOD, and your GOD."

Also, since the Holy Spirit is called the “Spirit of truth” (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13), those who have it—who are being led by it—will be worshipping God in truth. Real Christians strive to follow the truth in every matter. They would never follow the “instructions” of the trinitarian god, whose “Jesus” teaches that salvation is entirely by grace, with no works required. Notice just a few scriptures:

·        “And why call you Me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46).

·        “You are My friends, if you do what I command you” (John 15:14).

·        “For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholds himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgets what manner of man he was. But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed” (Jms. 1:23-25).

Those who truly seek to serve the God of the Bible must obey Him—and Him only! If they do, the reward will be incredible, and you are now ready to learn what that is.

“You shall worship the Lord thy GOD, and HIM ONLY shalt thou serve.” Matthew 4:10, 6:24; 22:37-38; Luke 4:8; Revelation 14:7.

Leviticus 20:7 " Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your GOD."  Leviticus 26:12 "And I will walk among you, and will be your GOD, and ye shall be my people."

1 Thessalonians 3:13 "To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before GOD, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints."

Jesus paid it all. Willingly, he laid aside His kingly robes in Heaven, to be born of the virgin Mary. Out of Love, subject to His Father's will, because He was the ONLY ONE who could, He went to the cross for you and for me. Jesus said, not MY WILL, but the will of His Father be done. Jesus is worthy. God is our loving Father, and only through Jesus, the literal Son of God, we have access to the Father.  "The Son of God was next in authority to the great Lawgiver. He knew that His life alone could be sufficient to ransom fallen man."(Ellen White, Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 2, page 9, also in Lift Him Up, page 24)

“The Sermon. Christian Perfection” 1Sermon delivered before the S.D.A. General Conference the closing night, March 6, 1899, in South Lancaster, Mass. The Advent Review and Sabbath Herald 76, 31, pp. 487, 488.

A. T. JONES ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487

(Concluded.) ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487

LET us look again at the statement that the gifts are for the perfecting of the saints, “till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” There is the pattern. The way that Christ went in this world of sin, and in sinful flesh,—your flesh and mine, burdened with the sins of the world,—the way he went in perfection and to perfection, is the way set before us. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.1

He was born of the Holy Ghost. In other words, Jesus Christ was born again. He came from heaven, God’s first-born, to the earth, and was born again. But all in Christ’s work goes by opposites for us: he, the sinless one, was made to be sin, in order that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. He, the living one, the prince and author of life, died that we might live. He whose goings forth have been from the days of eternity, the first-born of God, was born again, in order that we might beborn again. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.2

If Jesus Christ had never been born again, could you and I have ever been born again?—No. But he was born again, from the world of righteousness into the world of sin; that we might be born again, from the world of sin into the world of righteousness. He was born again, and was made partaker of the human nature, that we might be born again, and so made partakers of the divine nature. He was born again, unto earth, unto sin, and unto man, that we might be born again unto heaven, unto righteousness, and unto God. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.3

Brother Covert says that makes us as brethren. It does certainly make us as brethren. And he is not ashamed to call us his brethren either. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.4

Then he was born again, by the Holy Ghost; for it is written, and was spoken to Mary, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.5

Jesus, born of the Holy Ghost, born again, grew “in wisdom and stature,” unto the fulness of life and character in the world, to where he could say to God, “I have glorified thee on the earth; I have finished the work thou gavest me to do.” God’s plan and mind in him had attained to perfection. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.6

Jesus, born again, born of the Holy Ghost, born of flesh and blood, as we were, the Captain of our salvation, was made “perfect through sufferings.” For “though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; and being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.” Hebrews 2:105:8, 9. Jesus thus went to perfection in human flesh, through suffering; because it is in a world of suffering that we in human flesh must attain perfection. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.7

And while growing all the time, he was perfect all the time. Do you see that? There is where many people misconceive the whole thought of Christian perfection—they think the ultimate is the only measure. It is in God’s plan; but the ultimate is not reached at the beginning. Look again at the fourth of Ephesians. This is a suggestion, thrown out to you and me, how we may attain to this perfection,—“the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” I read the thirteenth verse; now coupled with that verses 14-16: “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even in Christ.” ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.8

This is to be accomplished in you and me by growth; but there can be no growth where there is no life. This is growth in the knowledge of God, growth in the wisdom of God, growth in the character of God, growth in God; therefore it can be only by the life of God. But that life is planted in the man at the new birth. He is born again, born of the Holy Ghost; and the life of God is planted there, that he “may grow up into him”—in how much?—“In all things.” ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.9

You remember that “the kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field.” And “the seed is the word of God.” The seed is planted. He realizes that night and day it grows, he knows not how. But that seed is what?—It is perfect; for God made it. It sprouts presently. What of the sprout? ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.10

[Congregation: “Perfect, too.”] ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.11

Is it? ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.12

[Voices: “Yes.”] ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.13

But it is not a head of grain; it is not a stalk standing full and strong; it is a mere sprout peeping through the ground. But what of it? Is it not perfect? ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.14

[Congregation: “Yes.”] ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.15

According to the rate of its progress, it is as perfect at that point as it will be when its course is finished, at the point of maturity. Do you not see? Let not that misconception abide any more. Away with it! ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.16

When that sprout peeps through the ground, you stoop to look at it. It is a thing to be admired. It is charming, because it is perfect. That is as perfect a blade as ever appeared on earth, but it is a mere spindling thing, barely peeping through the ground. That is all there is of it; but it is perfect. It is perfect, because it is as God made it. God is the only one that had anything to do with it. Do you not see? It is all right. So you and I, born again of that good seed of the word of God,—born by the word of God and the Holy Ghost, born of the perfect seed,—when that seed sprouts and grows, and begins to appear among men, people see the characteristics of Christ. And what is he?—Perfect. Then what is the Christian right there? ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.17

[Congregation: “Perfect.”] ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.18

If we be born again through the power of Jesus Christ, and God himself directs the work, what will that be which appears?—It will be perfect. And that is Christian perfection at that point. Jesus Christ presents you holy, unblamable, and unreprovable, before the throne at that point. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.19

That sprout grows and stands above the ground; presently another blade shoots off; there are two of them, and each is just as handsome as the other. The third one appears; it is now a stalk, and still grows. It now presents another picture altogether from that which it presented at first. Another picture indeed, but no more perfect than before. It is nearer to ultimate perfection, nearer to God’s accomplished purpose; but, though nearer to ultimate perfection, it is no more perfect, as it stands now, than it was the moment that it peeped through the ground. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.20

In time it grows to its full height. The head is full-formed. The bloom appears upon it. It is more beautiful on account of it. And at last appears the full head of grain, perfect; and the grains of wheat, each one perfect. The work, God’s work, is finished upon it. It is perfected. It has attained unto perfection according to God’s mind when he started it. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.21

That is Christian perfection. It comes by growth. But the growth can be only by the life of God. And the life of God being the spring, it can grow only according to God’s order. Only he can shape the growth. Only he knows, in perfection, the pattern. Christ is the pattern. God knows perfectly the pattern; and he can cause us to grow in perfection according to that pattern; because the same power, the same life, is in this growth that was in the growth of the original pattern, Jesus Christ. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.22

And as Jesus began, at his birth, as a little child in human flesh, and grew up and finished the work that God had given him to do; so you and I, born again, growing up in him in all things, come presently to the day when we, as did he, shall say, and say in righteousness, “I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work thou gavest me to do.” For it is written, “In the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished.” We are in that day. We have that mystery given to us to give to the world. It is to be finished for the world; and it is to be finished in those who have it. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.23

But what is the mystery of God?—“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” “God... manifest in the flesh.” Then in these days that mystery is to be finished in one hundred and forty-four thousand people. God’s work in human flesh, God being manifested in human flesh, in you and me, is to be finished. His work upon you and me is to be finished. We are to be perfected in Jesus Christ. By the Spirit we are to come unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.24

Is not that worth having? Is not the Lord’s way a good way unto perfection? Oh, then, “leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, LET US GO ON UNTO PERFECTION; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.” He has freed us from the unstable foundation that we had when in sin. Let the only foundation be that of the service of righteousness unto holiness, and the end, everlasting life. ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.25

And to every soul who will face the Judgment, and hold himself in the presence of the Judgment, surrendering himself to crucifixion and destruction, that thing will be accomplished in God’s own way, and in the short time in which he has promised to bring us unto righteousness. Then it is only God, God’s estimate, his standard, and Christ the pattern, and his the work, always, in all things, everywhere and forever! Then be of good cheer. Let is ARSH August 1, 1899, p. 487.26
