Jesus Says Separate From Error

To those who GO OUT TO MEET THE BRIDEGROOM will the message of Isaiah 60:1 be given.

Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 420: - “"Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." Isa. 60:1. To those who go out to meet the Bridegroom is this message given.” {COL 420.3}

GOD’S LAST DAY SAINTS WILL BE SEPARATE FROM THE NOMINAL ADVENTISTS: -

The part that Judas played in betraying his Lord to his enemies has set a precedent for those who will follow in his footsteps to betray God’s Sabbath-keeping people at the end of time.

Matthew 26:14 – 16: - “Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, and said [unto them], What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.  And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.”

The Nominal Adventists will betray God’s saints to the Catholics because they keep the Seventh-day Sabbath.

Spalding-Magan Collection, p. 1: - “I saw the nominal church and nominal Adventists, like Judas, would betray us to the Catholics to obtain their influence to come against the truth. The saints then will be an obscure people, little known to the Catholics; but the churches and nominal Adventists who know of our faith and customs (for they hated us on account of the Sabbath, for they could not refute it) will betray the saints and report them to the Catholics as those who disregard the institutions of the people; that is, that they keep the Sabbath and disregard Sunday.”

The Nominal Adventists will be enraged by the proclamation of the Loud Cry message, by God’s people.

A Word to the Little Flock, p. 19: - “I saw that God had children, who do not see and keep the Sabbath. They had not rejected the light on it. And at the commencement of the time of trouble, we were filled with the Holy Ghost as we went forth [HO. 6:2,3.] and proclaimed the Sabbath more fully. This enraged the church, and nominal Adventists, as they could not refute the Sabbath truth. And at this time, God's chosen, all saw clearly that we had the truth, and they came out and endured the persecution with us.”

WHY I BELIEVE IN SEPARATION FROM APOSTASY!

This study will give inspired statements to support our not going back into the backslidden structure to try and share our influence. I will give you some of the reasons from inspiration why I believe that it is essential that we be separate from apostasy at this time in earth’s history.

I think the real reason behind the common argument that we should go back into the backslidden structure and try to share our influence, is based on the tradition that is hoary with age, that somehow God is going to revive the organization, which will then give the Loud Cry, and will finally go through in triumph to the kingdom.  So I will give you a number of plain statements from inspiration, which will dispel this commonly held tradition. The weight of evidence will clearly establish it as a religious duty the necessity of being  separate from apostasy. It will also show that the structure is NOT going to be revived, and will NOT give the Loud Cry, and that it will NOT go through to the kingdom.

A good starting text on our subject is found in the very first chapter of the Bible, where God himself divided the light from the darkness.

Genesis 1:3 & 4: - “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that [it was] good: and God divided the light from the darkness.”

WILL THE CHURCH STRUCTURE BE REVIVED AND GO THROUGH TO THE KINGDOM?

The prophecy of Ezekiel Chapter 9 has a special application to the issue of the ultimate destiny of the SDA church structure and whether it is going to go through to the kingdom.

Ezekiel 9:1 – 6: - “He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man [with] his destroying weapon in his hand. And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them [was] clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brazen altar. And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which [had] the writer's inkhorn by his side;  And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old [and] young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom [is] the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which [were] before the house.”

The Testimony of Jesus was inspired to write a whole chapter on Ezekiel Chapter 9, and applies it to the Seventh-day Adventist church at the time of the sealing of God’s people. It is quite clear from a reading of the whole chapter, that the servants of Satan triumph in the church, and it is only a small company who will be sealed, and escape the destruction that is coming upon the Lord’s Sanctuary – his professed Church.

5th Testimony for the Church, pp. 210 & 211: - “The command is: "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof." These sighing, crying ones had been holding forth the words of life; they had reproved, counseled, and entreated. Some who had been dishonoring God repented and humbled their hearts before Him. But the glory of the Lord had departed from Israel; although many still continued the forms of religion, His power and presence were lacking.”  {5T 210.2}

“In the time when His wrath shall go forth in judgments, these humble, devoted followers of Christ will be distinguished from the rest of the world by their soul anguish, which is expressed in lamentation and weeping, reproofs and warnings. While others try to throw a cloak over the existing evil, and excuse the great wickedness everywhere prevalent, those who have a zeal for God's honor and a love for souls will not hold their peace to obtain favor of any. Their righteous souls are vexed day by day with the unholy works and conversation of the unrighteous. They are powerless to stop the rushing torrent of iniquity, and hence they are filled with grief and alarm. They mourn before God to see religion despised in the very homes of those who have had great light. They lament and afflict their souls because pride, avarice, selfishness, and deception of almost every kind are in the church. The Spirit of God, which prompts to reproof, is trampled underfoot, while the servants of Satan triumph. God is dishonored, the truth made of none effect.”  {5T 210.3}

“ … Here we see that the church--the Lord's sanctuary--was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for miracles and the marked manifestation of God's power as in former days. Times have changed. These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say: The Lord will not do good, neither will He do evil. He is too merciful to visit His people in judgment. Thus "Peace and safety" is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God's people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children all perish together.”  {5T 211.2}

The gospel prophet Isaiah wrote about these “DUMB DOG” ministers.

Isaiah 56:10 & 11: - “His watchmen [are] blind: they are all ignorant, they [are] all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, [they are] greedy dogs [which] can never have enough, and they [are] shepherds [that] cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.”

The “Peace and Safety” message occurs just before God lowers the boom on those who are stubborn in their impenitence.

1st Thessalonians 5:3: - “For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”

NOTE: - Rather than being the Ark of Salvation, as we have been taught to believe it is, the church structure is rather a spiritual deathtrap!

The following statement was published in 1904. It contains step by step predictions concerning what Satan would do to remodel the church structure and belief system of SDA’s, which will end with the church structure being swept away by storm and tempest.

Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 2, pp. 54 & 55: - “The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath, of course, would be lightly regarded, as also the God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure.”

The sandy foundation upon which the remodeled SDA church organization is built upon, reminds me of the foolish man Jesus warned his disciples against at the end of the Sermon on the Mount.

Matthew 7:26 & 27: - “And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”

In April 1903, just after the 1903 General Confession Session, the Testimony of Jesus made the following prediction concerning the SDA church being judged by God according to the spiritual blessings and light bestowed upon it. If the church fails to live up to the light entrusted to her, the sentence “FOUND WANTING” with be pronounced upon her.

8th Testimonies for the Church, p. 247: - “In the balances of the sanctuary the Seventh-day Adventist church is to be weighed. She will be judged by the privileges and advantages that she has had. If her spiritual experience does not correspond to the advantages that Christ, at infinite cost, has bestowed on her, if the blessings conferred have not qualified her to do the work entrusted to her, on her will be pronounced the sentence: "Found wanting." By the light bestowed, the opportunities given, will she be judged.”

A few pages later we find that the Heavenly Instructor pronounced the sentence that the church had become a Harlot. Clearly, it fails the test of the judgment, for Christ to pronounce such a sentence upon her.

8th Testimonies for the Church, p. 250: - “I saw our Instructor pointing to the garments of so-called righteousness. Stripping them off, He laid bare the defilement beneath. Then He said to me: "Can you not see how they have pretentiously covered up their defilement and rottenness of character? 'How is the faithful city become an harlot!' My Father's house is made a house of merchandise, a place whence the divine presence and glory have departed! For this cause there is weakness, and strength is lacking."”  {8T 250.2}

We know from sacred history, that once the sentence “FOUND WANTING” has been pronounced upon a person, they are devoted to destruction. Such is the example found in the Scriptures.

Daniel 5:25 - 28 & 30: - “And this [is] the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. This [is] the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.  TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. …   In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.”

Just by reading these few portions from inspiration, it is very easy to see for a person who is honest in heart, that the tradition that the church structure is going through to the kingdom, is nothing more than wishful thinking and a tradition of uninspired man.

SOME GENERAL STATEMENTS CONCERNING KEEPING OURSELVES FREE FROM CORRUPT ASSOCIATES: -

Moses was instructed that we are not to follow a multitude to do evil.

Exodus 23:2: - “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to [do] evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest [judgment].”

The wise man instructed us not to be enticed to do evil by our associates.

Proverbs 1:10: - “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”

The Testimony of Jesus has commented on this text, and indicates that if we leave those who are working on wrong principles, our separation can often do more than our words.

R. & H., Book 4, p. 42: - “Even though you may not feel able to speak a word to those who are working on wrong principles, leave them. Your withdrawal and silence may do more than words. Nehemiah refused to associate with those who were untrue to principle, and he would not permit his workmen to associate with them. The love and fear of God were his safeguard. He lived and worked as in view of the unseen world. And David said, "I have set the Lord always before me."”  {RH, May 9, 1899 par. 18}

The Testimony of Jesus has made it clear, that if we unite with the corrupt, we will not remain pure.

R. & H., Book 4, p. 137: - “You are exhorted to touch not the unclean thing; for in touching this, you will yourself become unclean. It is impossible for you to unite with those who are corrupt, and still remain pure.” {RH, January 2, 1900 par. 5}

WE NEED TO BE SEPARATE TO KEEP OUR FAITH PURE: -

We have the example of the apostle Paul, who separated the disciples of Christ from the synagogue at Ephesus, from those unbelieving Jews who were attacking the doctrines of the gospel of Christ.

Acts 19:8 & 9: - “And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.”

The Testimony of Jesus in commenting upon this incident of inspired history, indicates that the apostle separated the believers so that their faith would not be endangered by continuing to associate with those who opposed the truth of Christ.

Sketches from the Life of Paul, p. 134: - “The Spirit of God had wrought with and through Paul in his labors for his countrymen. Sufficient evidence had been presented to convince all who honestly desired to know the truth. But many permitted themselves to be controlled by prejudice and unbelief, and refused to yield to the most conclusive evidence. Fearing that the faith of the believers would be endangered by continued association with these opposers of the truth, Paul separated the disciples as a distinct body, and himself continued his public instructions in the school of one Tyrannus, a teacher of some note.”  {LP 134.1}

Paul counsels us to avoid those who cause divisions contrary to the doctrines of truth which we have learned.

Romans 16:17: - “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Paul counsels us to turn away from those who have a form of godliness without the power.

2nd Timothy 3:5: - “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

The Testimony of Jesus has made it plain, that it is absolutely necessary for us to be separate from those who are continually imbibing error. Sr. White was shown in vision, that if we go to religious meetings where we know error is being taught to the people, unless God has sent us to these meetings, the heavenly angels will NOT protect us, and we will be left to the buffetings of the evil angels.

Supplement to the Christian Experience and Views of Ellen G. White – 1854, pp. 45 & 46: - “I was shown the necessity of those who believe we are having the last message of mercy, being separate from those who are daily imbibing new errorsI saw that young and old should not attend their assemblies; for it is wrong to encourage them by attending their meetings while they teach error that is poisonous, and death to the soul, and teach for doctrines the commandments of men. And the influence is not good. If God has delivered us from such darkness and error, we should stand fast in the liberty wherewith he has set us free, and rejoice in the truth. God is displeased with those who go to listen to error, when they are not obliged to; for unless he sends us to these meetings, where error is forced home to the people by the power of the will, he will not keep us. The angels cease their watchful care over us, and we are left to the buffetings of the enemy, to be darkened and weakened by him, and the power of his evil angels; and the light around us becomes contaminated with the darkness.”  {ExV54 45.2}

THE MESSAGE OF THE MIDNIGHT CRY IS ONE OF SEPARATION: -

Sr. White wrote that the Ten Virgin Parable has been [past tense] and will be [future tense]fulfilled to the very letter, for it has a special application to this time, and will be present truth till the close of time.

R. & H., Book 2, p. 419: - “I am often referred to the parable of the ten virgins, five of whom were wise, and five foolish. This parable has been and will be fulfilled to the very letter, for it has a special application to this time, and, like the third angel's message, has been fulfilled and will continue to be present truth till the close of time.”  {RH, August 19, 1890 par. 3}

The Midnight Cry is a message of separation – of going OUT to meet the Bridegroom or Christ.

Matthew 25:6: - “And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

The Testimony of Jesus has informed us that the Laodicean church represents the foolish virgins.

R. & H., Book 2, p. 420: - “The state of the Church represented by the foolish virgins, is also spoken of as the Laodicean state.”  {RH, August 19, 1890 par. 10}

Those who continue to be the companions of fools shall be destroyed.

Proverbs 13:20: - “He that walketh with wise [men] shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

Isaiah 60:1: - “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.”

To those who GO OUT TO MEET THE BRIDEGROOM will the message of Isaiah 60:1be given.

Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 420: - “"Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." Isa. 60:1. To those who go out to meet the Bridegroom is this message given.” {COL 420.3}

The REMNANT people of God before the seven last plagues are poured out, will be outside of the Nominal Adventists and the fallen churches.

1858 Great Controversy, pp. 172 & 173: - “I saw that God had honest children among the nominal Adventists, and the fallen churches, and ministers and people will yet be called out from these churches, before the plagues shall be poured out, and they will gladly embrace the truth. Satan knows this, and before the loud cry of the third angel, raises an excitement in these religious bodies, that those who have rejected the truth may think God is with them. He hopes to deceive the honest, and lead them to think that God is still working for the churches. But the light will shine, and every one of the honest ones will leave the fallen churches, and take their stand with the remnant.” {1SG 172.1}

The word “NOMINAL” is defined in the dictionary as “existing or being something in name or form only”. Therefore, Nominal Adventists are those who have the name of being Advent believers, but they do NOTpossess the spiritual fruit or reality of being true Advent believers.

Jesus warned the church of Sardis that they had a name to being spiritually alive, but in reality, they were spiritually dead.

Revelation 3:1: - “And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.”

Jesus encouraged the church of Philadelphia with the promise that the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be spiritual Jews but in reality they are not, would come and worship at the feet of the victorious Philadelphians. In other words, the synagogue of Satan have the name of being spiritual Jews, but that is all!

Revelation 3:9: - “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.”

The Testimony of Jesus informs us that the synagogue of Satan are professed Adventists. No doubt, they are the same group as the Nominal Adventists that we have just been reading about.

A Word to the Little Flock, p. 12: - “You think, that those who worship before the saint's feet, (Rev. 3:9), will at last be saved. Here I must differ with you; for God shew me that this class were professed Adventists, who had fallen away, and "crucified to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." And in the "hour of temptation," which is yet to come, to show out every one's true character, they will know that they are forever lost; and overwhelmed with anguish of spirit, they will bow at the saint's feet.”  {WLF 12.2}

CONCLUDING THOUGHTS: -

The seal of God will be placed upon the foreheads of those who are separated from sin and sinners!

5th Testimony for the Church, p. 505: - “The angel is to place a mark upon the forehead of all who are separated from sin and sinners, and the destroying angel will follow, to slay utterly both old and young.”

The 144, 000 living, sealed saints, will NOT be defiled with women – that is the churches. This is because they will have obeyed the Lord’s call to go out of the midst of them.

Revelation 14:4: - “These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, [being] the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.”

The faithful watchman will be proclaiming a message of separation.

Isaiah 52:11: - “Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean [thing]; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.”

Testimony for the Battle Creek Church – 1882, p. 66: - “God's watchmen will not cry, "Peace, peace," when God has not spoken peace. The voice of the faithful watchmen will be heard: "Go ye out from hence, touch not the unclean. Go ye out of the midst of her. Be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord."  {PH117 65.4}

If we do not separate from unrighteousness and spiritual darkness, we are having fellowship, that is partnership or participation with those who practice unrighteousness and who are in spiritual darkness. And the Lord is not able to fulfill his wonderful promise to us to be our Father, if we refuse to obey his call of separation!

2 Corinthians 6:14 – 18: - “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”

The message of the Loud Cry of Revelation 18 is a message to come out of the confusion of Babylon.

Revelation 18:4 & 5: - “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.”

The Testimony of Jesus has prophesied that all Three Angel’s messages are to be repeated, with the call being given to THE CHURCH – which is in the singular, and which will result in the message of Revelation 18 being proclaimed with power. This is a message of separation.

R. & H., Book 4, p. 109: - “The first, second, and third angels' messages are to be repeated. The call is to be given to the church: "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. . . . Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities."”  {RH, October 31, 1899 par. 11}

Let us never forget as we close this study, that the message of the Midnight Cry, is a messageof separation; of going OUT to meet Christ who is NOT in the midst of a cold, lifeless, Laodicean church.

R. & H., Book 2, p. 320: - “The True Witness says of a cold, lifeless, Christless church, "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." Mark the following words: "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked." Here is represented a people who pride themselves in their possession of spiritual knowledge and advantages. But they have not responded to the unmerited blessings that God has bestowed upon them. They have been full of rebellion, ingratitude, and forgetfulness of God; and still he has dealt with them as a loving, forgiving father deals with an ungrateful, wayward son. They have resisted his grace, abused his privileges, slighted his opportunities, and have been satisfied to sink down in contentment, in lamentable ingratitude, hollow formalism, and hypocritical insincerity. With Pharisaic pride they have vaunted themselves till it has been said of them, "Thou sayest, I am rich and increased with goods, and have need of nothing.”"  {RH, July 23, 1889.}

Matthew 25:6: - “And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.”

Faith and Obedience are like the light and heat of a candle- the two cannot be separated.
