Did Christ have a Beginning? Could Christ have existed without God the Father? Or IS Jesus God Himself?

Without God, Christ could not have existed! Create means to bring into existence what didn't exist before. Begotten is just another form, perhaps the highest form, of bringing into existence something that did not exist before.

Jesus never did claim to be God, but He did claim to be the Son of God over and over in the Bible. The Jews recognized by his claiming to be the Son of God that he was claiming to be God. To them there was only one divinity - so to them it was blasphemy for Him to claim to be the Son of God. "We don't condemn you for any good works but for the claim to be the Son of God..." to be believing in God would have to be believing in God essentially.

He was God in nature, but he was not -- the eternal, immortal, self existent, uncreated one. Christ was not created as are the angels - he was not created in the SAME way as the angels. You can take this two different ways. Christ was made equal with the Father.

The Beginning of the Creation of God. Rev 3:14 "Who created all things by Jesus Christ:" Ephesians 3:9

Now let's allow the risen Christ Himself to reveal to us His relationship to His Father. A being who by birth inherits the nature and all attributes of his parent. After all, it is He, not John, who is the Revelator. Notice Rev 3:14 - And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, THE BEGINNING OF THE CREATION OF GOD:

There it is! Christ Himself is calling Himself "the beginning of the creation of God." Christ, the Son of God was the beginning of the creation of God the Father. After Jesus was born, begotten, brought forth, out of the bosom of the Father, God worked through Jesus to create everything else. In other words, a Son is younger than His Father, and His Father as most all Father's do want their Son to succeed - God's Son succeeded by doing the will of His Father. Christ's meat was to do the will of His Father.

"I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was." Proverbs 8:23, King James Version (KJV)

"And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:" Ephesians 3:9, King James Version (KJV)

"Also to enlighten all men and make plain to them what is the plan [regarding the Gentiles and providing for the salvation of all men] of the mystery kept hidden through the ages and concealed until now in [the mind of] God Who created all things by Christ Jesus." Ephesians 3:9, Amplified Bible (AMP)

  1. John 17:23
    • Amplified Bible
I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me.

  2. 1 Corinthians 1:10
    • Amplified Bible
But I urge and entreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in perfect harmony and full agreement in what you say, and that there be no dissensions or factions or divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your common understanding and in your opinions and judgments.
God is Love

"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me." John 18:37

"Then I was by him (the God and Father of Jesus), as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;" Proverbs 8:30 God brought up His Son and His only begotten unique Son was very happy with His Daddy and God.

Jesus was set up before the earth was created. "I was set up from everlasting from the beginning, or ever the earth was." Proverbs 8:23. God through His Son Jesus created the world and EVERYTHING...even Heaven and the angels.

Ellen White wrote:
„... yet Christ, God's dear Son, had the pre-eminence over all the angelic host. He was one with the Father before the angels were created... Lucifer was envious and jealous of Jesus Christ... His heart was filled with envy and hatred... Why should Christ thus be honored before himself?" FLB 67

Christ—The Power and Wisdom of God

"I [Wisdom] was inaugurated and ordained from everlasting, from the beginning, before ever the earth existed." Proverbs 8:23 Amplified Bible (AMP)

"Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God." 1 Corinthians 1:24

"But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." Micah 5:2

That is what it says. Here is the verse that says just that. I try never to say anything without the scripture to support every word.

Rev 3:13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

The point is that if "There is but one God, the Father, and all things of HIm", then Christ must be the very first thing the Father created, and by Christ, calling Christ "the mighty God, the everlasting Father" Christ's Father created the rest of creation.

Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

We were told in 1Co 8:6, that all things were "of the Father" and "by Christ". Here we are being told the same thing, adding the fact that Christ is "the image of the invisible God".

Why is this so? Is it because Christ was "MADE" "co equal with God"? YES! There is only one reason Christ is all these things, and here is that reason, according to scripture:

Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
I hope this all make this verse crystal clear to you.
1Co 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

Proverbs 30:4
English Standard Version (ESV)
4 Who has ascended to heaven and come down?
Who has gathered the wind in his fists?
Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and what is his son's name?
    Surely you know!

Rev 19:13 Answers the question: "and what is His Son's name?"
"And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood (killed-smitten by His own Father His God): and his name is called The Word of God." Rev 19:13

John 20:17
Jesus saith ...  and to "my" God, and your God.

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

"No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man." John 3:13 English Standard Version (ESV)

"That all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him." John 5:23, English Standard Version (ESV)

Heb 1:1-4 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

“The Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the Father, is truly God in infinity, but not in personality.” UL 367 (1905)

Who is He? [Christ]-- The life. When we are ministers of Christ, we are only the ministers of that endless life, "that eternal life." Oh, then, how can I be a minister of the life of Christ, a minister of the life of God, when my ministry is as continuous as my life, unless I am connected with that fountain of life, so that that eternal life is my life? Only thus can I become a minister of life; and this is life eternal, you all know, "that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent." Do "you see your calling, brethren"? We are ministers of Christ, and in that are ministers of eternal life to the dead. What a calling! and what a height there is to the calling! {April 4, 1901 A.T. Jones, GCB 35}

“Is Jesus God?” He would have to be to be His Son! My name is IN Him.

Is Jesus God?

THE QUESTION

In the study of the personality of God, many people ask if Jesus is God. For clarity, let us look at the question another way: Is Jesus God like God the Father?

The answer is YES and NO.

As there is more than one way of looking at the subject, it is easy to come to a conclusion after hearing only one part of the answer. The end result is a false picture.

According to the Bible, “there is only one God, the Father”.
1 Corinthians 8:6. The apostle Paul gained his understanding from the Hebrew Shema, “Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord”. Deuteronomy 6:4.

This was confirmed by Jesus who said eternal life is “to know the only true God
(the Father)….” John 17:3. We know Jesus is referring to the Father because He goes on to say, “and Jesus Christ whom Thou (Father) hast sent”.

But if the Father is the only true God, how can Jesus be another God? Would this not make Him a false god? Or, if we ignore the logic of this conclusion, but still make Jesus another God, would we not have two Gods?

After all, this is the charge we lay against Jehovah’s Witnesses? They speak of the Father as the Almighty God, and Jesus Christ as the Mighty God.

To confuse the issue even further, if we say the Holy Spirit is also God, do we not have three Gods? The Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the Spirit is the divine influence of Almighty God, and not an independent Being.

Ellen White also believes "The divine Spirit that the world’s Redeemer promised to send (the comforter) is the presence and power of God." —The Signs of the Times, November 23, 1891.

The DIFFERENCE between James & Ellen White's belief and the Jehovah witnesses is that Ellen & James White BELIEVES that Jesus IS Divine! Let's give Jesus ALL the honor the Father desires to heap on His dear Son - after all, He did volunteer to die to save us! Yes, He REALLY and truly completely died - or else this is a sham foisted upon mankind!

Many Christians call the three powers of heaven by the names: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, saying that collectively they make up one God.

This triune combination is called the Trinity. Other Christians believe there are three God-Beings who are all equal and eternal, but together make one Godhead.

This is Tritheism, but many Christians call it the Trinity. Still other Christians believe there is only one God who has manifested Himself in the form of Christ for the work of redemption, then as the Holy Spirit after Pentecost. At no time is there more than one God-form. This belief is Modalistic Monarchianism, but it is likewise called the Trinity.

Of these three views, the first is the most widely accepted. It was officially formulated by the Papal Church in opposition to Arianism at the Council of Nicaea in AD325, but continued in debate until the sixth century, when it was firmly established as a Papal dogma. It has since been adopted/claimed to be truth by the majority of the Protestant churches. Baptized paganism.

Seventh-day Adventists officially hold to the second view, however, they apparently see no fault with the Catholic form, for illustrations of the Trinity in Adventist literature have at times been drawn from Catholic books. SDA's adopted the trinity of god's names for THEIR gods also: "God the Father", "God the Son" & "God the Holy Spirit" still the same names of the trinity no matter what flavor or spin someone wants to put on it. Jesus Christ IS the Son OF God!!! Son of God. Not God the Son. Big difference. Error lies very close to the track of truth.

In a one sentence line, Ellen White plainly defines the Holy Spirit for us: "The divine Spirit that the world’s Redeemer promised to send is the presence and power of God." —The Signs of the Times, November 23, 1891.

--
My angel will go before you - don't sin, because he won't forgive you - it means don't sin and think you are going to get away with it. Fear Him, because MY name IS IN Him. The reason he called him an angel is because he was a messenger. So angel means messenger. My name is in Him so His NAME is Jehovah. They are not identical twins - he was made in the exact image of His Father - almost a twin - not an absolute co-equal - this destroys the Sovereignty of Jehovah - it destroys the true Sonship of Jesus. It also destroys the true identity of the Holy Spirit.

Remember- God has given His own Son His own names. So do not let this confuse you. We (believers) are those who are called by His NAMES also.
Jehovah means Jesus Saves! God can save us only through His Son. Jesus means Jehovah Saves. That is why he loves Jesus so much, is because he was willing to do anything to save us. The price was stupendous - nothing was withheld - he gave all, His Son. His only begotten Son. What Love for us the Father hath!

The answer to that question is of course, yes. The scriptures reveal that Christ was given the name of "God".
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Who is the one giving Christ these incredible names?
Col 1:19 For it pleased [the Father] that in him should all fulness dwell;
BUT, does Jesus have a God and Father?
The testimony of the Apostles says yes; 1Pet 1:3,  Eph 1:3,  2Cor 11:31,
The testimony of Jesus says yes;  Jn 20:17,  Rev 3:12,  Isa 49:4-5
The testimony of God the Father says yes; Heb 1:9
Here we see perfect harmony from the Apostles to Jesus and the Father, all testifying that Jesus has a God and Father.
1Cor 15:28, which deals with, after the plan of salvation is over.
No mention of a third person called 'God the holy ghost or God the holy spirit'. Here is what the Bible teaches concerning the invisible God head:
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seenbeing understood by the things that are madeeven his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

This is not speaking of the three parts of an egg, the three forms of water, or the three sexes we hear of today. Here is "the things that are made" referred to in scripture which specifically concern the "Godhead"

1Co 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Christ is God.

"The head of Christ is God". Now here is what we are told about that "God" and who He is in relationship to our Lord.

1Co 8:6 But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and [besides this "one God" there is also] one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

Who is Jesus?
Matthew 11:27 "All things have been handed over to me by My Father..."

After the plan of Salvation is completed, Jesus will give the Authority God gave Him BACK to His Father and His God...so will we give the Authority Jesus gave us back to Jesus:

"And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all." 1 Corinthians 15:28 (KJV)

1 Corinthians 15:24 "Then the end will come, when he (Jesus) hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he (Jesus) has destroyed all dominion, authority and power." King James Version (KJV) "Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power." Amplified Bible (AMP) "After that comes the end (the completion), when He (Jesus) delivers over the kingdom to God the Father after rendering inoperative and abolishing every [other] rule and every authority and power."

John 3:16

Amplified Bible (AMP)

16 For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.

Definition of UNIQUE

1: being the only one : sole

2 a : being without a like or equal : unequaled

b : distinctively characteristic : peculiar

3: unusual

UNIQUE definition: existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics: having no like or equal; unparalleled; incomparable: limited in occurrence to a given class, situation, or area.

John 3:16

King James Version (KJV)

16 For God SO LOVED the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Are you trusting in, clinging to, relying on JESUS CHRIST?

I don't know how you believe, but I believe as our early pioneers of Adventism did. They were UNITED on the truth and what Dr. Waggoneer taught in the 1888 time period was exactly what Ellen White said "harmonized perfectly" with what she had been trying to teach all her life regarding the doctrine of Christ. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has God also. They have BOTH the Father and the Son.

Ellen White stated that Dr. Waggoner’s position in the 1888 time frame "harmonizes PERFECTLY" with what she had tried to teach ALL her life! This means that Dr. Waggoner represented the doctrine of Christ "In a manner or way that could not be better. "That which has been presented harmonizes perfectly with the light which God has been pleased to give me during all the years of my experience." The Ellen G. White 1888 Materials, p. 164.3 and Pastoral Ministry, p. 20.2

"In arguing the perfect equality of the Father and the Son, and the fact that Christ is in very nature God, we do not design to be understood as teaching that the Father was not before the Son. It should not be necessary to guard this point, lest some should think that the Son existed as soon as the Father; yet some go to that extreme, which adds nothing to the dignity of Christ, but rather detracts from the honor due him, since many throw the whole thing away rather than accept a theory so obviously out of harmony with the language of Scripture, that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. He was begotten, not created. He is of the substance of the Father, so that in his very nature he is God; and since this is so  'It pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell.' Col. 1:19... While both are of the same nature, the Father is first in point of timeHe is also greater in that he had no beginning, while Christ's personality had a beginning." EJ Waggoner, Signs of the Times, April 8, 1889, p. 214

Jesus was set up before the earth was created. "I was set up from everlasting from the beginning, or ever the earth was." Proverbs 8:23. Jesus was with His Father during creation.

"But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." Micah 5:2

Taken out of the quote above: "WE (the early SDA pioneers) do NOT design to understood as teaching."  (they did NOT teach that Jesus is His own Father and GOD)  We are made in the image of God - How could your own son be also be his own Father? It is confusing - and confusion is NOT of God. This is trinitarian teaching - there are many flavors of this teaching - Catholic, Modern SDA, no matter the "flavor" of the false teaching - it is a seducing doctrine of the devil.

We are to REPEAT THE WORDS of the pioneers in our work, who knew what it cost to search for the truth as for hidden treasure, and who labored to lay the foundation of our work. . . . The word given me isLet that which these men have written in the past be reproduced.”—Review and Herald, May 25, 1905.

About her husband James White, Ellen states: December 10, 1871,"I was shown that his (James White's) relation to the people of God was similar, in some respects, to that of Moses to Israel." Testimonies for the Church Volume 3, Page 85.

"The past fifty years have not dimmed one jot or principle of our faith as we received the great and wonderful evidences that were made certain to us in 1844, after the passing of the time. The languishing souls are to be confirmed and quickened according to His Word. . . . Not a word is changed or deniedThat which the Holy Spirit testified to as truth after the passing of the time, in our great disappointment, is the SOLID FOUNDATION OF TRUTH. [The] pillars of truth were revealed, and we accepted the foundation principles that have made us what we are--Seventh-day Adventists, keeping the commandments of God and having the faith of Jesus. (The Upward Look, page 352, paragraph 4 Chapter Title: God's Word is True).

"Many of our people do not realize how firmly the foundation of our faith has been laidMy husband, Elder Joseph Bates, Father Pierce, Elder {Hiram} Edson, and others who were KEEN, NOBLE, AND TRUE, were among those who, after the passing of the time in 1844, searched for the truth as for hidden treasure… When they came to the point in their study where they said, "WE can do nothing more," the Spirit of the Lord would come upon me, I would be taken off in vision, and a clear explanation of the passages, WE had been studying would be given me, with instruction as to how WE were to labor and teach effectively. Thus light was given that helped US to understand the scriptures in regard to Christ, His mission, and His priesthood. A LINE OF TRUTH EXTENDING FROM THAT TIME (1844) TO THE TIME WHEN WE SHALL ENTER THE CITY OF GOD, WAS MADE PLAIN TO ME, and I gave to others the instruction that the Lord had given me. What influence is it that would lead men at this stage of our history to work in an underhand, powerful way to tear down the foundation of our faith–the foundation that was laid at the beginning of our work by prayerful study of the Word and revelation? Upon this foundation we have been building for the past fifty years. (Selected Messages bk.1, p. 206-7 1904).

"Whatever contradicts God's word, we may be sure proceeds from Satan." Patriarchs and Prophets, page 55, paragraph 2.
"As Christ was twice born, once in eternity, the only begotten of the Father, and again here in the flesh, thus uniting the divine with the human in that second birth, so we, who have been born once already in the flesh, are to have the second birth, being born again of the Spirit, in order that our experience may be the same, the human and the divine being joined in a life union." W.W. PRESCOTT Review and Herald, April 14, 1896 p. 232.

"He was born of the Holy Ghost. In other words, Jesus Christ was born again. He came from heaven, GOD's first- born, to the earth, and was born again, But all in Christ's work goes by opposites for us: he, the sinless one, was made to be sin, in order that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. He, the living one, the prince and author of life, died that we might live. He whose goings forth have been from the days of eternity, the first-born of GOD, was born again, in order that we might be born again." A.T. JONES

"If Jesus Christ had never been born again, could you and I have ever been born again? No. But he was born again, from the world of righteousness into the world of sin; that we might be born again, from the world of sin into the world of righteousness. He was born again, and was made partaker of the human nature, that we might be born again, and so made partakers of the divine nature. He was born again, unto earth, unto sin, and unto man, that we might be born again unto heaven, unto righteousness, and unto God." Review and Herald, Aug. 1, 1899 (Lessons on Faith p. 154.)

His Only Begotten Son Jesus (the ONLY BEING who could DIE to save us from our sins): "begotten" from Strong's Concordance  #3439 from monos andgenos means: monogenes  mon-og-en-ace':  only-born, i.e. sole -- only (begotten, child). 3439 monogenḗs (from 3411 /misthōtós, "one-and-only" and 1085 /génos, "offspring, stock") – properly, one-and-only; "one of a kind" – literally, "one (monos) of a class, genos" (the only of its kind). Christ, the only begotten Son of God had a beginning (brought forth from God's bosom, begotten, child=offspring, firstborn child, Son of God) in eternity, not in time (this world goes round by time, not eternity). God is NOT limited by TIME. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the 365 days a year TIME CYCLE, since this world was created by the Son of GOD. JESUS WAS First-BORN "IN ETERNITY" TO HIS FATHER AND GOD prior to this world and before anything at all was created, before the angels were created. God had a Son, and God created everything THROUGH His only begotten Son. A firstborn Son, born in eternity a time (to us) so far in the past that human minds cannot grasp it. Remember? God created the days, seasons and TIME? Eccl 3:2 "A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest."  "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment," Hebrews 9:27

In eternity, in heaven, before anything was created and before time began (this world) God had a one and only begotten Son who He named Jesus. This Son of God was born/begotten from His Father's bosom (John 1:18). Jesus tells us in Proverbs 8:30 "Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;". "When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water." Proverbs 8:24. "Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:" Proverbs 8:25. Jesus is known as the "firstborn" of all creatures in Colossians 1:15 "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:".

Jesus looks, thinks and acts just like His Father and His God, like Father, like Son! ("The son is like its father"), a chip off the old block! :) son will have traits similar to his father upon reaching adulthood. This Biblical concept of Jesus being the firstborn of all creatures is important to understand, because to understand it, means our salvation and even shows us what church we should belong to. "One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."  Ephesians 4:6.

"As a result of Adam’s disobedience every human being is a transgressor of the law, sold under sin. Unless he repents and is converted, he is under bondage to the law, serving Satan, falling into the deceptions of the enemy, and bearing witness against the precepts of Jehovah."  In Heavenly Places, p. 146.4

"When man sinned, all heaven was filled with sorrow; for through yielding to temptation, man became the enemy of God, a partaker of the Satanic nature. The image of God in which he had been created was marred and distorted. The character of man was out of harmony with the character of God; for through sin man became carnal, and the carnal heart is enmity against God, is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." ST February 13, 1893, par. 6

"When man transgressed the divine law, his nature became evil, and he was in harmony, and not at variance, with Satan."  The Great Controversy, p. 505.2

Let's stop here a moment and consider what has just been said. God does not expect a natural born person to do good. In fact, He knows that with Satan as his spiritual father, that would be impossible. Although God has given a measure of His Spirit to every sinner [Genesis 3:15], he is still under the control of Satan.

"Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil." Jeremiah 13:23.

So in spiritual lines, Jesus said, "Without Me ye can do nothing." Never forget that statement, it goes against everything that Satan stands for. There are some who teach that we are not accounted guilty until we use our will to sin. God does not account anyone guilty until He refuses to accept the remedy for sin. But to say we are not accounted sinners until we use our will to sin is theological trickery to resolve the descrepancy between Christ's nature and ours. It is unnecessary and brings other problems with it. The following passage resolves this problem.

"You need to drink daily at the fountain of truth, that you may understand the secret of pleasure and joy in the Lord. But you must remember that your will is the spring of all your actions. This will, that forms so important a factor in the character of man, was at the Fall given into the control of Satan; and he has ever since been working in man to will and to do of his own pleasure, but to the utter ruin and misery of man. But the infinite sacrifice of God in giving Jesus, His beloved Son, to become a sacrifice for sin, enables Him to say, without violating one principle of His government: “Yield yourself up to Me; give Me that will; take it from the control of Satan, and I will take possession of it; then I can work in you to will and to do of My good pleasure.” Testimonies for the Church Volume 5, p. 515.1

"Jesus continued: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” By nature the heart is evil, and “who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.” Job 14:4. No human invention can find a remedy for the sinning soul. “The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” “Out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.” Romans 8:7; Matthew 15:19. The fountain of the heart must be purified before the streams can become pure. He who is trying to reach heaven by his own works in keeping the law is attempting an impossibility. There is no safety for one who has merely a legal religion, a form of godliness. The Christian’s life is not a modification or improvement of the old, but a transformation of nature. There is a death to self and sin, and a new life altogether. This change can be brought about only by the effectual working of the Holy Spirit." The Desire of Ages, p. 172.1

God Himself said that we are naturally born with a sinful nature. The only way out of this dilemma is to be born again of His Holy Spirit. We must understand this.

(John 1:12, 13; 3:5-8). Grace Not Inherited—"The old nature, born of blood and the will of the flesh, cannot inherit the kingdom of God. The old ways, the hereditary tendencies, the former habits, must be given up; for grace is not inherited. The new birth consists in having new motives, new tastes, new tendencies. Those who are begotten unto a new life by the Holy Spirit, have become partakers of the divine nature, and in all their habits and practices they will give evidence of their relationship to Christ. When men who claim to be Christians retain all their natural defects of character and disposition, in what does their position differ from that of the worldling? They do not appreciate the truth as a sanctifier, a refiner. They have not been born again." (The Review and Herald, April 12, 1892). S.D.A. BIBLE COMMENTARY VOL. 6, PAGE 1101

"The inheritance of children is that of sin. Sin has separated them from God. Jesus gave His life that He might unite the broken links to God. As related to the first Adam, men receive from him nothing but guilt and the sentence of death. But Christ steps in and passes over the ground where Adam fell, enduring every test in man’s behalf.... Christ’s perfect example and the grace of God are given him to enable him to train his sons and daughters to be sons and daughters of God." Child Guidance, p. 475.3

"Children are the lawful prey of the enemy, because they are not subjects of grace, have not experienced the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus, and the evil angels have access to these children; "RH September 19, 1854, par. 11

But Jesus was different. Be glad, because He freely offers to us this victory.

"He is a brother in our infirmities, but not in possessing like passions. As the sinless One, His nature recoiled from evil." S.D.A. Bible Commentary Vol. 7A, p. 455.1

REJOICE! He wants us to have every benefit that He had. "His nature recoiled from evil." so it may be with us. We have seen that it is impossible to develop a Christ-like character until we are reborn of His Spiritual nature.

e condition on which you become the children of promise, and receive the love of God. Jesus knew that of yourself you could not obey God’s law; for you were sold under sin; therefore he came to our world to bring to you moral power, that through faith in his name you might live. He brings his divine power to combine with your human efforts, that through his righteousness appropriated to yourself, you can keep his law. Our liberty was procured by Christ, by his spotless, meritorious life and death. We receive the righteousness of Christ, and through his merits enjoy liberty, and are identified with him." RH July 29, 1890, par. 8

"Christ is the “Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.” John 1:9. As through Christ every human being has life, so also through Him every soul receives some ray of divine light. Not only intellectual but spiritual power, a perception of right, a desire for goodness, exists in every heart. But against these principles there is struggling an antagonistic power. The result of the eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is manifest in every man’s experience. There is in his nature a bent to evil, a force which, unaided, he cannot resist. To withstand this force, to attain that ideal which in his inmost soul he accepts as alone worthy, he can find help in but one power. That power is Christ. Co-operation with that power is man’s greatest need. In all educational effort should not this co-operation be the highest aim?" Education, p. 29.1

While we are justified the moment that we repent of our sins and surrender the heart to Christ, the inward work of sanctification is a lifelong work. This is another reason that we can never be justified by an inside of us righteousness. Justification demands that infinite perfection supplied by Jesus for every believing sinner.

Laodicea feels like it has to establish a righteousness to meet the demands of the law just as Christ did. Therefore they are extremely reluctant to accept any statement that makes Christ's nature one whit different than ours. Otherwise how can God expect them to perfect a character just like Christ's? This is satanic legalism of the worst strip, and it is soundly denounced in Revelation 3. There will be a perfecting of the character with the expulsion of every hereditary and cutlivated tendency to sin, but this is a work of faith, and it is all of Christ.

Some want to all the Alpha and the Omega - GOD the Father. But these verses clearly tell who it is:
Revelation 2:8 "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again.

Remember- God has given His own Son His own names. So do not let this confuse you. We (believes) are those who are called by His NAMES also.

1 Cor 1:24: But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

One of the ways He is doing that is by giving us many translations with many mistakes. Translating the word 'aion' into 'eternal, eternity, for ever and ever" etc. is but one such example. So do what I do. Download e-sword and look at the entry of every Greek word in question or every Hebrew word in question. When you do that, then the holy spirit will give you the meaning that was intended. There are no translations that can be trusted completely.

"When the soul surrenders itself to Christ, a new power takes possession of the new heart. A change is wrought which man can never accomplish for himself. It is a supernatural work, bringing a supernatural element into human nature. The soul that is yielded to Christ becomes His own fortress, which He holds in a revolted world, and He intends that no authority shall be known in it but His own. A soul thus kept in possession by the heavenly agencies is impregnable to the assaults of Satan. But unless we do yield ourselves to the control of Christ, we shall be dominated by the wicked one. We must inevitably be under the control of the one or the other of the two great powers that are contending for the supremacy of the world. It is not necessary for us deliberately to choose the service of the kingdom of darkness in order to come under its dominion. We have only to neglect to ally ourselves with the kingdom of light. If we do not co-operate with the heavenly agencies, Satan will take possession of the heart, and will make it his abiding place. The only defense against evil is the indwelling of Christ in the heart through faith in His righteousness. Unless we become vitally connected with God, we can never resist the unhallowed effects of self-love, self-indulgence, and temptation to sin. We may leave off many bad habits, for the time we may part company with Satan; but without a vital connection with God, through the surrender of ourselves to Him moment by moment, we shall be overcome. Without a personal acquaintance with Christ, and a continual communion, we are at the mercy of the enemy, and shall do his bidding in the end." The Desire of Ages, p. 324.1

"Some will acknowledge the evil of sinful indulgences, yet will excuse themselves by saying that they cannot overcome their passions. This is a terrible admission for any person to make who names Christ. “Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” 2 Timothy 2:19. Why is this weakness? It is because the animal propensities have been strengthened by exercise until they have gained the ascendancy over the higher powers. Men and women lack principle. They are dying spiritually because they have so long pampered their natural appetites that their power of self-government seems gone. The lower passions of their nature have taken the reins, and that which should be the governing power has become the servant of corrupt passion. The soul is held in lowest bondage. Sensuality has quenched the desire for holiness and withered spiritual prosperity.

My soul mourns for the youth who are forming characters in this degenerate age. I tremble for their parents also; for I have been shown that as a general thing they do not understand their obligations to train up their children in the way they should go. Custom and fashion are consulted, and the children soon learn to be swayed by these and are corrupted; while their indulgent parents are themselves benumbed and asleep to their danger. But very few of the youth are free from corrupt habits. They are excused from physical exercise to a great degree for fear they will overwork. The parents bear burdens themselves which their children should bear." Testimony Treasures Volume 1, p. 258.2

“The last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so,” said Jesus, “shall it be also unto this wicked generation.” There are none so hardened as those who have slighted the invitation of mercy, and done despite to the Spirit of grace. The most common manifestation of the sin against the Holy Spirit is in persistently slighting Heaven’s invitation to repent. Every step in the rejection of Christ is a step toward the rejection of salvation, and toward the sin against the Holy Spirit.
