Christ Our Righteousness - Christ OUR TRUTH!

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SEALED WITH THE SEAL OF THE LIVING GOD?

The following well known passage among Second-Advent Sabbath-keepers is the foundation text for this study.

Revelation 7:2 - 4: - “And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

NOTE: - I don’t intend in this study to go into any detail in establishing from inspiration that the Seventh-day SaturdaySabbath, which is the Fourth Commandment of God’s Moral Law, contains the Seal of the Living – Creator God. I will take that as already accepted as being truth by those Sabbath-keepers who will listen to this study.

So I will be focusing my attention in this study, on three questions associated with the vital issue of the Seal of the Living God.

  1. What are the spiritual and character requirements needed for us to be fit candidates so that we can be Sealed with the Seal of the Living God?
  2. When will the saints be sealed with the Seal of the Living God? and,
  3. Once the saints have received the Seal of the Living God, can they die?

1.WHAT ARE THE SPIRITUAL AND CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS NEEDED FOR US TO BE FIT CANDIDATES SO THAT WE CAN BE SEALED WITH THE SEAL OF THE LIVING GOD?

The Seal of God has been described by the Testimony of Jesus as being the pure mark of truth, that will be wrought in us by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Original Testimony, Number 23, p. 23: - “Mark this point with care: Those who receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost, represented by a mark by the man in linen, are those "that sigh and cry for all the abominations that are done" in the church. Their love for purity and the honor and glory of God is such, and they have so clear a view of the exceeding sinfulness of sin, that they are represented as being in an agony, even sighing and crying. Read Ezekiel, chapter nine.”

As we have just been instructed by the Testimony of Jesus to “Read Ezekiel, chapter nine”, let us turn to that chapter, and read just a few verses from it, that directly relate to the sighing and crying and those who will actually receive the MARK or Seal of God -  “the pure mark of truth”.

Ezekiel 9:4 – 6: - “And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old [and] young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom [is] the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which [were] before the house.”

The Testimony of Jesus indicates that we have to be decided – that is firm or immoveable on the truth, and be pure in heart, for God to cover us with his seal.

The Present Truth, Number 3, August 1849, p. 21: - “Satan is now using every device in this sealing time, to keep the minds of God's people from the present, sealing truth; and to cause them to waver. I saw a covering that God was drawing over his people, to protect them in the time of trouble; and every soul that was decided on the truth, and was pure in heart, was to be covered with the covering of Almighty God.”

This last reference mentions the necessity of our being pure in heart, as well as our being decided on the truth, as necessary characteristics we have to have, for God to draw his covering over us at the end of time. We must remember that Jesus taught his disciples in the Sermon on the Mount, that the pure in heart shall see God.

Matthew 5:8: - “Blessed [are] the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

The Psalmist has made it very clear that the pure in heart shall be able to ascend to the hill of the Lord. In other words, he shall ascend up and meet the Lord in the air, at his second coming. He shall truly see God in peace.

Psalm 24:3 – 5: - “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”

The Testimony of Jesus has made it clear, that we have to be pure in heart, for God to place his seal upon us.

5th Testimony, p. 216: - “The seal of God will never be placed upon the forehead of an impure man or woman. It will never be placed upon the forehead of the ambitious, world-loving man or woman. It will never be placed upon the forehead of men or women of false tongues or deceitful hearts. All who receive the seal must be without spot before God -- candidates for heaven.” {5T 216.2}

And the apostle Paul has taught us that without holiness, no person can see God.

Hebrews 12:14: - “Follow peace with all [men], and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”

We have previously read from the Testimony of Jesus, that the Seal of God is described as the pure mark of truth, that is wrought in us by the power of the Holy Ghost. Would not this pure mark of truth be the righteousness of Christ, which the saints will be clothed in? I think it surely would be. And what does inspiration tells us is the righteousness of Christ? Pure, unadulterated truth!

Testimonies to Ministers, p. 65: - “They are not willing to exchange their own righteousness, which is unrighteousness, for the righteousness of Christ, which is pure, unadulterated truth.

 Let us therefore, never underestimate the vital importance of our being firmly established upon the platform of God’s pure and unadulterated truth! Let us also not forget that Jesus prayed for our sanctification through the truth.

John 17:17 - 19: - “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.”

The Testimony of Jesus has plainly stated, that error never sanctifies those who receive it.

Redemption, Book 8, p. 51: - “Error never sanctifies the receiver; but truth of heavenly origin purifies the heart.”  {8Red 51.1}

THE JUDGMENT AND THE SEALING: -

The Seal of the Living God is basically denoting spiritual ownership. That is, that we belong to the Lord. We should heed Paul’s inspired exhortation to depart from iniquity, if we have taken on Christ’s name.

2nd Timothy 2:19: - “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

It is ONLY those whose names are retained in the Book of Life, who will be delivered from the winds of strife that will be let loose upon this world at the close of Probation. They will be delivered, because the Mark or Seal of God’s approval – the Mark of Pure truth has been wrought in them by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Daniel 12:1: - “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”

We need to watch and pray so that we can be accounted or judged worthy by the Lord, so as to be able to escape all the troubles that will engulf the entire world when Michael stands up!

Luke 21:36: - “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

We need to overcome our sins by the grace of Christ, and send them beforehand to the Judgment so that they can be blotted out BEFORE the Holy Spirit can be poured out upon Jesus’ servants.

Revelation 3:4 & 5: - “Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”

 1st Timothy 5:24: - “Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some [men] they follow after.”

Acts 3:19: - “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”

Original Testimony, Number 13, pp. 67 & 68: - “I was shown that if God's people, without making efforts on their part, wait for the refreshing to come upon them and remove their wrongs and correct their errors, and depend upon that to cleanse them from filthiness of the flesh and spirit, and fit them to engage in the loud cry of the third angel, they will be found wanting. The refreshing, or power of God, comes only on those who have prepared themselves for it by doing the work which God bids them, namely, to cleanse themselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

In the statement I have just read from Original Testimony, Number 13, pp. 67 & 68, Sr. White uses the expression “found wanting” concerning those who expect that “the refreshing, or the power of God” will cleanse their characters from sin. The expression “found wanting” has a direct reference to the work of Judgment going on now in the Sanctuary. The concept of being weighed in the balances as found in the Scriptures, is a reference to a work of Judgment being undertaken by God. And to be “found wanting” means that we will be lost. It means that we will fail the test in the Judgment! Such is the teaching of the Scriptures.

Job 31:6: - “*Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

NOTE: -  * The margin has “Heb. Let him weigh me in balances of justice”.

Isaiah 26:7: - “The way of the just [is] uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.”

Daniel 5:27: - “TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

I have a few choice statements from the Spirit of Prophecy, which clearly highlight the solemn and sobering truth, concerning the holiness of character that the remnant must attain unto, so that they can be Sealed with the Seal of the Living God. It is a extremely high standard the Lord has set for his people to reach through their efforts in co-operating with the grace of Christ.

A Sketch of the Christian Experience and Views of Ellen G. White – 1851; p. 58: - “I also saw that many did not realize what they must be in order to live in the sight of the Lord, without a High Priest in the Sanctuary, through the time of trouble. Those who receive the seal of the living God, and are protected in the time of trouble, must reflect the image of Jesus fully.”  {ExV 58.2}

R. & H., Book 3, p. 257: - “The seal of the living God will be placed upon those ONLY who bear a likeness to Christ in character.”  {RH, May 21, 1895 par. 5}

R. & H., Book 4, p. 423: - “Are we striving with all our power to attain to the stature of men and women in Christ? Are we seeking for his fullness, ever pressing toward the mark set before us, -- the perfection of his character? When the Lord's people reach this mark, they will be sealed in their foreheads. Filled with the Spirit, they will be complete in Christ, and the recording angel will declare, "It is finished."”   {RH, June 10, 1902 par. 15}

R. & H., Book 1, p. 451: - “The path to freedom from sin is through crucifixion of self, and conflict with the powers of darkness. Let none be discouraged in view of the severe trials to be met in the time of Jacob's trouble, which is yet before them. They are to work earnestly, anxiously, not for that time, but for today. What we want is to have a knowledge of the truth as it is in Christ now, and a personal experience now. In these precious closing hours of probation, we have a deep and living experience to gain. We shall thus form characters THAT WILL INSURE OUR DELIVERANCE IN THE TIME OF TROUBLE.”  {RH, August 12, 1884 par. 10}

One other vital characteristic that we need to be very much aware of, concerning being able to receive the Seal of the Living God, is the truth, that the 144, 000 sealed saints will NOT be connected with   ANY of the apostate churches. TheyWILL BE separate from sin and sinners.

Revelation 14:4: - “These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, [being] the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.”

5th Testimony, p. 505: - “The angel is to place a mark upon the forehead of all who are separated from sin and sinners, and the destroying angel will follow, to slay utterly both old and young.”  {5T 505.2}

2. WHEN WILL THE SAINTS BE SEALED WITH THE SEAL OF THE LIVING GOD?

The Third Angel’s message calls upon the inhabitants of the earth, to choose between receiving the Mark of the Beast and the wrath of God, or to become Commandment-keepers.

Revelation 14:9 – 12: - “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

The beloved Apostle John was shown in holy vision, the saints who will be finally victorious over all the issues warned against under the Third Angel’s message, standing upon the Sea of Glass in heaven.

Revelation 15:2: - “And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, [and] over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.”

This fearful conflict that will engulf the whole world, and which will end in the final victory of God’s Commandment-keeping people, has been simply outlined for us by the Spirit of Prophecy.

1884 Great Controversy, pp. 282 & 283: - “In the issue of the great contest, two distinct, opposite classes are developed. One class "worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark," and thus bring upon themselves the awful judgments threatened by the third angel. The other class, in marked contrast to the world, "keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus." [REV. 14:9, 12.] Though the powers of earth summon their forces to compel "all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond," to receive the mark of the beast, yet the people of God do not receive it. The prophet of Patmos beholds "them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God," [REV. 15:2.] and singing the song of Moses and the Lamb.”

The Heavenly Angel revealed to Sr. White, that the Third Angel is the Sealing Angel.

1854 Supplement to Christian Experience and Views of Ellen G. White, p. 38: - “I then saw the third angel. Said my accompanying angel, "Fearful is his work. Awful is his mission. He is the angel that is to select the wheat from the tares, and seal or bind the wheat for the heavenly garner. These things should engross the whole mind, the whole attention." {ExV54 38.3}

 This simple inspired evidence leads us to one very simple conclusion: - Namely, that, as the issue of the Mark of the Beast and the Seal of the Living God go together hand in hand, it is logical that the ONLY time when a person can receive the Seal of the Living God, is at the time when the fearful test of Revelation 13:11 – 18, is a living reality. Such is the clear teaching of the Spirit of Prophecy.

R. & H., Book 3, p. 481: - “When you obey the decree that commands you to cease from labor on Sunday and worship God, while you know that there is not a word in the Bible showing Sunday to be other than a common working-day, you consent to receive the mark of the beast, and refuse the seal of God. If we receive this mark in our foreheads or in our hands, the judgments pronounced against the disobedient must fall upon us. But the seal of the living God is placed upon those who conscientiously keep the Sabbath of the Lord.”  {RH, July 13, 1897 par. 6}

This truth is further reinforced, by the following statement from the Testimony of Jesus, which clearly reveals that the saints will receive the Seal of the Living God JUST BEFORE they enter the Time of Trouble such as never was.

Day-Star, March 14, 1846: - “About four months since, I had a vision of events, all in the future. And I saw the time of trouble, such as never was, -- Jesus told me it was the time of Jacob's trouble, and that we should be delivered out of it by the voice of God. JUST BEFORE WE ENTERED IT, WE ALL RECEIVED THE SEAL OF THE LIVING GOD.” {DS, March 14, 1846 par. 2}

When Jesus announces the close of probation in Heaven, the Seal of God will be upon his people.

Revelation 22:11 & 12: - “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”

1884 Great Controversy, pp. 431 & 432: - “When the third message closes, mercy no longer pleads for the guilty inhabitants of the earth. The people of God have accomplished their work; they have received the latter rain, or the refreshing from the presence of the Lord, and they are prepared for the trying hour before them. Angels are hurrying to and fro in Heaven. AN ANGEL RETURNING FROM THE EARTH ANNOUNCES THAT HIS WORK IS DONE, THAT THE SEAL OF GOD HAS BEEN PLACED UPON HIS PEOPLE. Then Jesus ceases his intercession in the sanctuary above. He lifts his hands, and with a loud voice says, "It is done;" and all the angelic host lay off their crowns as he makes the solemn announcement: "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still; and he that is holy, let him be holy still." [REV. 22:11] Every case has been decided for life or death. Christ has made the atonement for his people, and blotted out their sins.”  {4SP 431.2}

The Present Truth, Number 4, September, 1849, p. 32: - “When Jesus leaves the Sanctuary, then he that is holy and righteous, will be holy and righteous still; for all their sins will then be blotted out, and they will be sealed with the seal of the living God.”  {RH, September 1, 1849 par. 7}

3. ONCE THE SAINTS HAVE RECEIVED THE SEAL OF THE LIVING GOD, CAN THEY DIE?

The prophet Daniel was informed that his people – that is, the saints, who have their names retained in the Book of Life, will be delivered out of the Time of Trouble such as never was.

Daniel 12:1: - “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”

The prophet Jeremiah was shown that God’s people will be delivered out of the Time of Jacob’s Trouble.

Jeremiah 30:5 – 7: - “For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? Alas! for that day [is] great, so that none [is] like it: it [is] even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.”

Concerning the Time of Jacob’s Trouble, Elder James White wrote the following in 1847, concerning when the Time of Jacob’s Trouble would commence, and how the saints will be delivered from their persecutors by the Voice of God.

A Word to the Little Flock, pp. 9 & 10: - “Jacob’s trouble was when the messengers returning to him, said, “We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him. Then Jacob was greatly afraid, and distressed.” Gen. 32:6, 7. The true saints will be brought into a similar situation, at the time of the fulfillment of Rev. 13:11– 18. Not that the saints will be killed; for then none would remain till the change: but to fulfil this prophesy, a decree must go forth to kill the saints, which will cause fear, and distress. When Jacob was troubled, he wrestled with the angels “until the breaking of the day.” Gen. 32:34. [that should read as Gen. 32:24 – compiler]  In the last closing strife with the Image Beast, when a decree goes forth that as many as will not worship the image of the beast shall “be killed”, the saints will cry day and night, and be delivered by the voice of God.”

NOTE: - It was when Jacob’s messengers reported to the patriarch, that his brother, and I want to repeat this point, it was his brother Esau coming with 400 men to kill Jacob, that his own personal Time of Trouble commenced, And this is indeed an illustration for the Time of Trouble at the end of the world. When the Image to the Beast, brings in the Death Decree, then the Sealed Saints will be plunged into the Time of Jacob’s Trouble.

Revelation 13:15: - “And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.”

And the Testimony of Jesus, has clearly informed us that the Nominal Adventists, will be the most bitter enemies of the former brethren, just as Esau came against his brother Jacob with plans to kill him. The Nominal Adventists will be the ones to act the part of Judas, to betray God’s Sealed saints to the Catholics. But the saints will be delivered by the Voice of God.

1884 Great Controversy, p. 426: - “They become the most bitter enemies of their former brethren. When Sabbath-keepers are brought before the courts to answer for their faith, these apostates are the most efficient agents of Satan to misrepresent and accuse them, and by false reports and insinuations to stir up the rulers against them.”

Spalding - Magan Collection, pp. 1 & 2: - “I saw the nominal church and nominal Adventists, LIKE JUDAS, would betray us to the Catholics to obtain their influence to come against the truth. The saints then will be an obscure people, little known to the Catholics; but the churches and nominal Adventists who know of our faith and customs (for they hated us on account of the Sabbath, for they could not refute it) will betray the saints and report them to the Catholics as those who disregard the institutions of the people; that is, that they keep the Sabbath and disregard Sunday. And the Protestants will work as their mother worked before them to destroy the saints. But before their decree bring or bear fruit, the saints will be delivered by the Voice of God.

The Lord has promised to deliver his Philadelphian Church from the “hour of temptation” that shall come upon ALL the world.

Revelation 3:10: - “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.”

The Testimony of Jesus informs us, that the Philadelphians are those who keep God’s Commandments “when under the hand of oppression.” This is referring to the final conflict that is just before us.

R. & H., Book 3, p. 44: - “To the people who will be keeping the commandments of God when under the hand of oppression, will come these words of comfort: "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly. Hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is New Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God, and I will write upon him my new name."  {RH, May 2, 1893 par. 12}

The sea and the waves will be roaring. Calamity will follow calamity. Men’s hearts failing them for fear. But in the midst of this chaos and destruction, let us remember the following statements from inspiration, that the Lord’s sealed saints will be preserved alive throughout the Time of Trouble.

Psalm 91:4 – 10: - “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth [shall be thy] shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; [nor] for the arrow [that] flieth by day; [Nor] for the pestilence [that] walketh in darkness; [nor] for the destruction [that] wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, [which is] my refuge, [even] the most High, thy habitation;There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.”

Let us never forget that God’s Holy Angels will protect his Sealed Saints from the wrath of their enemies during the Time of Trouble.

Psalm 34:7: - “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”

1884 Great Controversy, p. 447: - “The heavenly sentinels, faithful to their trust, continue their watch. In some cases, before the time specified in the decree, enemies will rush upon the waiting ones to put them to death. But none can pass the mighty guardians stationed about every faithful soul. Some are assailed in their flight from the cities and villages; but the swords raised against them break and fall as powerless as a straw. Others are defended by angels in the form of men of war.”  {4SP 447.2}

9th Testimony, p. 17: - “But in the midst of the time of trouble that is coming, -- a time of trouble such as has not been since there was a nation, -- God's chosen people will stand unmoved. Satan and his host cannot destroy them, for angels that excel in strength will protect them.

5th Testimony, p. 754: - “When the strongholds of kings shall be overthrown, when the arrows of God's wrath shall strike through the hearts of His enemies, His people will be safe in His hands.

A Word to the Little Flock, pp. 14 & 15: - “At our happy, holy state the wicked were enraged, and would rush violently up to lay hands on us to thrust us in prison, when we would stretch forth the hand in the name of the Lord, and the wicked would fall helpless to the ground.

A Word to the Little Flock, p. 19: - “In the time of trouble, we all fled from the cities and villages, but were pursued by the wicked, who entered the houses of the saints with the sword. They raised the sword to kill us, but it broke, and fell, as powerless as a straw.

R. & H., Book 1, p. 57: - “I saw that God would in a wonderful manner preserve his people through the time of trouble.” {RH, May 27, 1862, par. 3}

The prophet Ezekiel was shown the solemn work of the Sealing Angel, and also the fearful fate that will result upon ALLthose who do not receive the Seal or Mark of God. They will be utterly slain!

NOTE: - On one side, NOT ONE PERSON WILL REMAIN ALIVE; while on the other side, NOT ONE PERSON WILL DIE!

According to the Testimony of Jesus, those who have the seal of the Living God, are the ONLY people who will be preserved ALIVE through the awful Time of Trouble, when the Judgments of God will be abroad throughout the earth.

The Present Truth, Number 4, September, 1849, p. 32: - “What we have seen and heard of the pestilence, is but the beginning of what we shall see and hear. Soon the dead and dying will be all around us. I saw that some will be so hardened, as to even make sport of the judgements of God. Then the slain of the Lord will be from one end of the earth, to the other; they will not be lamented, gathered, nor buried; but their ill savor will come up from the face of the whole earth.Those only who have the seal of the living God, will be sheltered from the storm of wrath, that will soon fall on the heads of those who have rejected the truth.”  {RH, September 1, 1849 par. 10}

The sealed or marked saints will NOT be touched by the slaughtering Angels, but will be redeemed from the earth, from among the living, to meet Jesus in peace at his 2nd Coming. They will be the 144, 000 sealed, living saints!

Revelation 14:1 – 5: - “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, [being] the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.”
