Capernaum Came to be Known as "His (Jesus) Own City."

Capernaum = Seventh Day Adventist's
Seventh Day Adventist's came be be known as Jesus own church.

Please note that Ellen White compares the SDA church to a corporate city Capernaum. By this designation she can only mean the entire corporate church and not "individuals" in that church.
At Capernaum

"At Capernaum Jesus dwelt in the intervals of His journeys to and fro, and it came to be known as "His own city." It was on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, and near the borders of the beautiful plain of Gennesaret, if not actually upon it." --{Desire of Ages, Chapter 26}

"And thou, Capernaum [Seventh-day Adventists, who have had great light], which art exalted unto heaven [in point of privilege], shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee." E. G. White, Review and Herald Articles, vol. 3, p. 69, col. 3. Brackets are by Ellen White.

"When once the restraints of God's Word and His Spirit are REJECTED, no man knows to what depths of degradation he may sink. Secret sin or master passion may hold him a captive as helpless as was the demoniac of Capernaum. (Capernaum=Modern Corporate SDA church) Yet his condition is not hopeless!"

We DID NOT add the bracketed portions of the above statement. It is quoted just as it was written by Ellen White. Please note that Ellen White compares the SDA church to a corporate city Capernaum. By this designation she can only mean the entire corporate church and not "individuals" in that church. Ezekiel 5:1-4, agrees with Ellen White's prognosis, wherein three-thirds, or the entire church is destroyed after a remnant escapes. Add to this the fact that Ellen White says that another literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9 will begin at His Sanctuary-- the people who had great light, Testimonies, vol. 5, 211, and you have a serious situation. You have a modern-day counterpart to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D., and indeed, Ellen White said that catastrophe was a prefigure type of another to come, The Great Controversy, 1911 edition, p. 25.

Revelation 3:9, 10, are two of the most interesting verses of all Scripture and they have been successfully relegated to the halls of obscurity by the ecclesiastical authorities over the ages, and particularly by those of this age. A little reflection and spiritual discernment will make the reason for that obscurity all too plain to see. What church movement is going to confess that it is the Synagogue of Satan?!

He can take each company of believers and make them a power, if they will every one submit wholly to Him. God will give us a power in our assemblies; He will make even the synagogue of Satan (Modern SDA's) acknowledge that God is with us (ref: Revelation 3:9). When we are willing to take the humble position that it is all of Christ and none of self, when we are fully submitted to Christ that He may work in us, then He will manifest His power, and that is what He desires to do.

Shall we, who believe in the power of God, allow the enemy to triumph over us?

The enemy is working to hinder God's work, to counteract what God has accomplished. Shall we allow him to tri-umph over us?

Also, because I quote Ellen White in saying that the Laodicean state of the church is the foolish virgin state, and that if the church should become Laodicean, it would not stand in the favor of God any more than the fallen churches, Karl ASSUMES, that I am saying Adventists never should have joined the church because, according to Ellen White, it was Laodicea when it was formed in 1863, having first been labeled by Ellen White as Laodicean in 1856.

"Most startling messages will be borne by men of God's appointment, messages of a character to WARN the people, to AROUSE them. And while some will be PROVOKED by the warning, and led to RESIST LIGHT AND EVIDENCE, we are to see from this that we are giving the TESTING MESSAGE FOR THIS TIME. Messages will be given OUT OF THE USUAL ORDER." Testimonies,Vol. 9, p. 136.

Neither Scripture nor Ellen White ever taught that there was no hope for Laodicea, but those of her who are saved must repent and buy what the message to Laodicea admonishes.  When they do that, they are no longer lukewarm Laodiceans. However, she also meant that if the church should remain Laodicean and grow cold by forming an Omega of Apostasy New Movement Organization, that would removed God, then such a New Movement formed AMONG, WITHIN Laodicea would not be regarded by God with any more favor than the fallen churches.  Here are Ellen White’s statements concerningLaodicea:

 "The state of the Church represented by the foolish virgins, is also spoken of as the Laodicean state." E. G. White,  Review and Herald Articles,  Vol. 2, 420.

“The Testimony For The Church—The Laodicean Church—What greater deception can come upon human minds than a confidence that they are right when they are ALL WRONG?” Testimonies, Vol. 3, pp. 253, 254.

"If the church of God becomes LUKEWARM [LAODICEAN] it does not stand in favor with God any more than do the churches that are represented as having fallen and become the habitation of devils and the hold of every foul spirit and the cage of every unclean and hateful bird. Those who have had opportunities to hear and receive the truth, and who have united with the Seventh-day Adventist church, calling themselves the commandment keeping people of God, and yet possess no more vitality and consecration to God than do the nominal churches, will receive of the plagues of God just as verily as the churches who oppose the law of God."  E.G. White, Letter 35, 1898.

The church left the Laodicean state in 1893, for Ellen White said in July of that year that the church was keeping the commandments of God and heeding the Laodicean message. The statement is from the same article Ellen White wrote to Stanton telling him he should not have called the church Babylon or any part of Babylon because it was THEN heeding the Laodicea message and keeping the commandments of God:

“The council of Christ to the Laodicean Church was being acted upon, and all who were feeling their poverty were buying gold (faith and love), white raiment (the righteousness of Christ), and eyesalve (true spiritual discernment). E. G. White, Review and Herald Articles, Vol. 6, p. 513.  All parenthesis emphasis by Ellen White.
